A famous rodeo bull, dubbed 'The World's Most Dangerous Bull', has died in his retirement pen at a Texas ranch. Bodacious was a 12-year-old, 1,800-pound bull that cowboys found nearly impossible to ride. Only six cowboys managed to last the required eight seconds on the back of Bodacious. The rest were tossed off.

In "8 Seconds," director John G. Avildsen tries to do for bull riding what he did for boxing and karate in "Rocky" and "The Karate Kid," with the added twist that the film's events are based on a true story, not a scriptwriter's fantasy.

Legendary bull rider Lane Frost died after a tragic accident in the rodeo arena. Frost had just completed an 85-point ride on the bull Takin' Care Of Business. When he landed in the dirt, the bull's horn struck Frost in the back, breaking several ribs and severing an artery.
Although women have been riding bulls professionally since at least the 1970s, the bulls on the women's circuit are smaller by orders of magnitude. In 1994, a woman named Polly Reich famously set out to ride the same bulls as men at PRCA rodeos.
