Hive: More than just a thermostat
Hive ships with its own hub, and it'sthis that drives the entire platform – the hubconnects to your router and talks to all Hive devices, whileallowing remote access via a smart home app. The thermostat, bulbs,camera, door sensors and plugs all fall under the spell of theHive hub.Once you've bought Google Home anddownloaded the Google Home App, you'll justneed to add Hive to connect to Hive ActiveLights and Hive Active Plugs.
To connect the receiver to the hub, putthe hub into pairing mode. You can do this by selecting'Install devices' within the Hive app menu. From there tap'Add another device' and then 'Go' which will start the hubssearch. Leave the hub searching and the receiver will changeto a single flash of amber.
To solve:
- Press the reset button on the bottom of the 360 Hub for 15seconds.
- Switch off and back on your internet router!!
- Press the reset button on the bottom of the 360 Hub for 15seconds again.
- You should know get the blue led and can restart theinstallation process from the app.
Hive devices and sensors use open ZigBeewireless communication protocol, which means they can be used withalternative home automation hubs like Samsung SmartThings.Hive Hub doesn't support third party integrations, theirssensors work with other hubs.
A view allows a query to be saved and treatedlike a table. It is a logical construct, as it does not store datalike a table. In other words, materialized views are notcurrently supported by Hive. Logically, you can imagine thatHive executes the view and then uses the results inthe rest of the query.
The four main systems are: Apple HomeKit, SamsungSmartThings, Nest and Hive. HomeKit can only becontrolled through Apple devices so if you use them a lot, thenit's probably the one for you.

Do I need a Hive Hub to use my Hive ActiveThermostat? Yes all your Hive services run throughyour Hive Hub so you'll need one to access yourdevices through the mobile app or web.
The Hive Active Heating subscription is nolonger available. We now offer a 12 month paymentplan as an alternative. The plan allows you to spreadthe cost of the kit over 12 months. Once the12 months are up, you can continue to pay £2.99 amonth for Hive Live or cancel the Hive Livesubscription and pay nothing.
Log in to the app or website and enter the Hub ID(this is found on the underside of the hub). Click“Go” and your hub will begin to search fordevices. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your devices. Ifyou have a Hive Hub 360 as shown below, follow our guidehere.

Needs to connect to Hive Hub
The lightbulb does not work on its own however,and needs to be used with connected home router HiveHub, which is the control centre for all of the company'sproducts including those managing heating, motion sensors, windowand door sensors and plug sockets.The Hive Camera will need to be connected to a2.4GHz network, since it doesn't support 5GHz. At the heart of thecamera lies a 1080p sensor, with a 130-degree lens designedto take in an entire room. There's no cloud storage, so all footageis recorded to a microSD card.
Contrary to popular belief, you don't needto be with British Gas to have Hive. It works withany supplier and with most boilers. You can, of course, lookout for deals where you get the system free if youswitch to British Gas and if you're already afirst-gen Hive owner, you can upgrade to the newthermostat for £99.
The ?ideal location for your Hive hub iscentrally located within your home, if this is possible?. It shouldbe plugged in to your broadband router and switched on at the powersocket. Place your Hive hub away from other devices(for example) and off the floor.
Ideal Thermostat Placement
The best place for your thermostat is onan interior wall, away from all the areas we previously discussed(direct sunlight, air vents, your kitchen, hallways, windowsand doors). Ideally, it should be placed toward the center ofyour home.Where should I place my Hive thermostat stand?Aim for around 1-1.5m from the floor and away from heatsources such as radiators and direct sunlight.
Hive Active Heating is compatible withmost gas, LPG and oil boilers. If you've got an electricboiler, as long as you have a standard room thermostatand/or programmer it should also be compatible. However it'salways best to check with the manufacturer to make sure that yourcurrent boiler is Hive compatible.

To set up a Hive View camera,follow the below steps: Select “Camera” or"View" from the install devices screen in the Hiveapp and follow the onscreen instructions. When prompted, plug inyour Hive View and switch the mains power socket on. It willpower up and start flashing blue to show it's ready forinstall.
