Civil defense (British English: civil defence) or civil protection is an effort to protect the citizens of a state (generally non-combatants) from natural disasters. It uses the principles of emergency operations: prevention, mitigation, preparation, response, or emergency evacuation and recovery.
According to the Enlistment Act, conscription is mandatory for all "persons subject to [the] act", defined as those who are not less than 16.5 years of age and not more than 40 years of age, with some exemptions and with no specific bias to gender (not limited to males).

As a Military Expert (ME), you are a uniformed personnel with deep system knowledge and skills in key military domains. You serve to retain deep knowledge within the 3rd Generation SAF, and are an important complement to the Officer and Warrant Officer Corps.
As a key element in the SAF, the Intelligence Corps is entrusted with the responsibility to collect and understand real-time information, and given the sacred task to preserve the security of Singapore. The SCDF maintains a dedicated 79-man standby contingent round-the-clock codenamed Operation Lionheart where its core function is to provide urban search and rescue and/or humanitarian relief assistance to countries afflicted by major disasters.

National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) is a National Uniformed Group under the purview of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore Civil Defence Force.
With the unwavering support and guidance from the teacher officers and cadet officers, PHS NCC (Sea) is able to provide cadets with a myriad of programmes to help them develop leadership and organisational skills. These skills will certainly allow them to become capable citizens of the future.
The National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) is one of the national uniformed group for youths between age 13 to 17 in Singapore. The organization is supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) is a team of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) that specialises in complex incidents such as technical rescue and prolonged firefighting. It was formed in May 1990, and has participated in many international humanitarian missions.
