The key differences come down to clock speeds and CUDA cores. Higher clock speeds and more cores translate into a more capable GPU that can do more work, more quickly. The GTX 1050 has a clock speed of1,354 MHz and 640 CUDA cores, and the Ti has a clock speed of 1,493 MHz and 768 cores.
Luckily, cards such as the 1050ti are officially rated as the minimum spec for some VR headsets, such as those made by Oculus. This means that the 1050ti is able to run VR, at least on Oculus systems, and this will allow you to finally enjoy the wonders of VR without needing the most expensive systems and hardware.
We deployed the GTX 970 to run all three games in the Crysis Trilogy at native 4K resolution with a 30fps target - and it worked. There's no need to turn off the highest quality textures in any of the Crysis games - there's ample memory available with the GTX 970.
Splendid. The GTX 970 is not that great of a choice if you want to run high res textures, especially when 512MB of the 4GB total is slower than the other 3.5GB. That doesn't mean it's a bad card, just that you would need to keep the vram usage under 3.4GB.
GTX 970, GTX 1060 is much better than GTX 970. The reason is, it performs much faster and is available in newer models.
GeForce 900 (9xx) series
| Model | Launch | Launch price (USD) |
|---|
| GeForce GTX 970 | September 18, 2014 | $329 |
| GeForce GTX 980 | $549 |
| GeForce GTX 980 Ti | June 2, 2015 | $649 |
The GTX 1050 Ti is hardly a bad card either for 1080p gaming, it's just a bit long in the tooth. That's the unfortunate situation we're all facing in 2021. There's simply not enough GPU silicon to go around today, with gamers, miners, and bots scrambling for what little stock there is.
Ti is a designation that is specific to the Nvidia brand of GPUs and is essentially short for “Titanium.†When used in a Nvidia GPU product name, the Ti label is part of Nvidia's naming scheme for its GPUs and is used to indicate that a given graphics card is an upgraded or better performing model than its regular, or
The RX 560 is fresh competition to NVIDIA's GTX 1050 in terms of price and performance. User benchmarks reveal that NVIDIA's GTX 1050 is faster than the RX 460 by 17% and so it is expected that the 560 will close most, if not all, of that gap.
Both the GTX 1050 Ti and RX 570 provide very playable performance at 1080p in Rainbow Six Siege, but with a 28% performance advantage the RX 570 enables a noticeably better gaming experience. At 1440p the RX 570 was noticeably better hitting 66 fps on average opposed to just 48 for the 1050 Ti.
Both the 1050 and the 1050 Ti are based on Nvidia's latest GPU architecture, named Pascal. That means the cards also support the company's Ansel screenshot technology and can support G-Sync displays. The 1050 comes with 2GB of video memory, while the 1050 Ti employs 4GB of VRAM.
The demand is greatly outnumbering the supply. The same GPU I bought last year for $300 is selling for over $650 on ebay. Trump's tax tarifs are a major culprit, at least here in the US. 3rd party GPU vendors (think Asus, EVGA, Sapphire, etc) have had to markup prices by around 25% as a result, which is HUGE.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti performance comparison
| Name | MSRP Price | 3DMark Time Spy Graphics Score Value for Money |
|---|
| AMD Radeon R9 285 | $249 | 11 |
| NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti | $139 | 16 |
| NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (Notebook) | N/A | 0 |
| AMD Radeon R9 280X | $299 | 7 |
Unlike normal PC games that will run on lower frame rates, both the Rift and Vive require a constant 90 FPS to work their VR magic and keep people from becoming motion sick. So while Oculus says a GTX 970 is the “recommended†graphics card, it's really the minimum if you want a legitimate VR experience.
If saving a buck is not mandatory, I would go for the RTX 2060 Super. It has great power for its price and it also comes with 8 Gb. The 2060 non Super will also offer significant performance over your 970. They are both great cards, both are a big upgrade and both will handle new titles in 1080p, even at 144hz.

Verdict. Nvidia's RTX 2080 is a better card utilizing newer technology and offering better, faster performance than the GTX 1080 Ti and usually at a much lower cost. There will be some games that perform better with the GTX 1080 Ti, but that advantage is not worth hundreds of dollars.
Open the Start menu on your PC, type "Device Manager," and press Enter. You should see an option near the top for Display Adapters. Click the drop-down arrow, and it should list the name of your GPU right there.
The Radeon R7 Graphics was an integrated graphics solution by AMD, launched on February 17th, 2014. This ensures that all modern games will run on Radeon R7 Graphics. It features 384 shading units, 24 texture mapping units, and 8 ROPs. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 720 MHz.
AMD's mercenary rival to Nvidia's GeForce Experience software has quietly been put out to pasture. Radeon driver updates have included AMD's Gaming Evolved—a rebranded version of Raptr's service, rather than software developed in-house by AMD—since the Radeon R200-series graphics cards rolled out in 2013.
