All players start with 301/501 points and attempt to reach zero. If a player scores more than the total required to reach zero, the player “busts†and the score returns to the score that was existing at the start of the turn. When a player reaches zero, the game is over.
Methods of achievementA single game of darts (known as a leg) requires a player to score exactly 501 points, ending with either the bullseye or a double. Each shot consists of exactly three darts, and 60 is the maximum that can be scored with any one dart.
In a professional darts game, you do not need to double-in before you start subtracting from your score. This is done to speed up the pace and action of the game. If you watch darts on TV, you will notice each round starts with the players immediately scoring as many points as possible.
A first dart single bull (25) still leaves you on a two dart out. Only you can tell if two triples and one double are easier than one single bull (25), one triple and one double bull.
With three scoring darts on a conventional dartboard the lowest possible score is 3 and the highest score is 180.
(b) the lowest possible score? With just one dart it is possible to score 50 (with the bullseye) or 51 (with a treble 17).
The highest possible checkout is 170 whilst the lowest possible checkout is 2.
The lowest score that you can finish on is a two (double one). If you have a score of two remaining, any section you hit on the board will cause you to bust, except the double one.
If the game is 301, everyone starts with 301 points. The name of the game is the starting number of points. The number hit is reduced from the starting points and the game ends when the score becomes exactly 0! The first player to lower his/her score to 0 wins!
The dartboard is divided into 20 numbered segments and a bullseye. Each segment has 4 scoring areas: 2 single, 1 triple and 1 double. The bullseye has an outer ring (single bull - 25 points) and an inner ring (double bull - 50 points). The center of the dartboard must be hung 68 inches above the floor.
Sport: Darts. The outer ring running round the dartboard. Each number will have a double mark that is separated by wire. A player will normally have to finish on a double when attempting to win a leg.
It's not a checkout, but keep the bullseye in mind when working your way down to 170. Throwing your third dart at bull instead of the 20's with 195 or 192 is a smart move – a Single Bull will leave you on a checkout where a Single 20 will not.
Basic Rules:In order to reach zero each player must finish by throwing a double i.e. if player one has 36 remaining he must hit double 18 to win, while if player two has 45 remaining he must hit single 5, double 20 to win - or a another combination of scores provided the final dart scores on a double.
A throw of a single dart to determine who throws first in the game by means of being closer to the bullseye. Also known as a "bull-off", "middle for middle", "corking" and "out for bull". A variant of x01 in which a double is needed to start the game. Double top. The double-20.
Darts - 501 RulesThe number of points collected while hitting a board with a dart is subtracted from the given player's points. The winner is the player who scores exactly 0 points that way. It is a double out game, which means that players must hit a double that makes their score exactly zero to win the game.
There are 3944 different ways to hit a nine darter. Incredibly, the most popular final dart for the checkout is the bullseye with 2,296 nine darters ending on that. Most darts fans will be familiar with nine dart finishes ending on double 12 – that is arguably the 'go to' way for the majority of modern dart players.
Round of Nine or RO9 - Three perfect darts in cricket such as any 3 triples in one round. Round the Clock - Hitting every number around the board. Round - A three dart turn. Rubber - The final leg of a three-leg game.
20. Shanghai: As mentioned here, a Shanghai is when you hit the triple, double and single of the same number in one three dart turn. Can also just refer to the name of the game. 21.
Any dart landing inside the outer wire scores as follows:Hitting the thin inner portions of these sections, about halfway between the outer wire and the central circle coloured red and green, scores triple the points value of that section.
5 and a single 1. Black Eye/Black Hat - Hitting 3 double bullseyes in a round. Black Dog - The double bull. Bombs/Bombers - Very large or heavy darts.
Doubles count as two hits and triples as three. The outer bullseye counts as one and the inner bullseye as two. The first player to hit a number three times owns that number and it is said to be opened.
The red bullseye is worth 50 points, and the green bit surrounding the bullseye is worth 25 points. Darts landing outside the segments score zero points.
The standard dartboard is divided into 20 numbered sections, scoring from 1 to 20 points, by wires running from the small central circle to the outer circular wire. Circular wires within the outer wire subdivide each section into single, double and treble areas.
Dart is an Aussie term, you probably wouldn't hear your standard upper class snob say it. We have a variety of words for cigarettes. I would very rarely use the term cigarette, too many syllables.
