Mercifully, the videos won't play with sound if you have your phone set to silent. But if you'd like to stop them from automatically playing sound altogether, Facebook is offering an option to do that as well. First, click the three-line icon in the bottom-right hand corner of the Facebook app. Then tap “Sounds.”
To unmute a story:
- Go to the Stories section in the top right of your News Feed.
- Click in the top right of the Stories section.
- Click Stories You've Muted.
- Click Unmute next to the name of the person, Page or group.
Click the "Photos" link under your cover photo near the top of your timeline page. Click "Videos" in the top left corner, next to the Your Albums heading. The Your Videos section contains videos you've uploaded to Facebook. This new windows also shows the video's likes and comments.
Go to settings > Bluetooth and make sure no headset is connected with it. Sometimes, a tiny software glitch may lead to no sound on recorded, to cross check it close the camera or videos application on your iPhone and open the music application. Play a song, close it now.
However, sometimes Facebook warns you that the videos "may contain music that belongs to somebody else". If the video that you posted has been muted, go with this option: "Restore Audio if you feel this is a mistake and you have the rights to use this content. Your video will be posted without any muted segments."
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- Tap Sound Advanced.
- Turn a sound or vibration on or off.
For the record, if you want your own Facebook feed to remain sound-free, just go to Settings and toggle Videos in News Feed Start With Sound to off. Or just put your phone in silent mode: anyone whose phone is set to silent will also see silent video clips by default.
Press “Windows-I” on your keyboard to open the Settings pane. Click the volume control option, which is marked by a speaker icon. Adjust the computer volume to your needs. If the speaker icon at the top of the control has a line through it, click it to unmute the sound.
Dear HH, As far as we know, there's no way to disable the audio when uploading videos directly from your phone to Facebook. Your best bet is to remove the sound with a third-party editing app prior to uploading. Fortunately, this is a relatively simple procedure that you can do in-phone with a few finger taps.
If your posted video has been muted
"Restore Audio if you feel this is a mistake and you have the rights to use this content. Your video will be posted without any muted segments." If this is because of one of our stock files, click Restore Audio button. You have the right to use these in your video.Mute video
Right-click the video clip and select Mute. This will silence the audio on the video clip, but not remove the audio for that single clip. To mute the audio of the entire track, you can select the Audio icon to the left of the track to Mute the track. How to clear cache on iPhone & iPad

Live Photos sharing is only available among iPhone users and requires a separate app, such as Lively or LiveGIF to export files and make them viewable on Android devices. Since Motion Photos only captures movements and has no sound, it makes the file lighter and easier to export.
To turn automatic sound for News Feed videos on or off:
- Tap in the bottom right.
- Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy > Settings.
- Scroll down to Media and Contacts and tap Videos and Photos.
- Below Sound Settings, tap or next to Videos in News Feed Start With Sound to turn automatic sound on or off.
Push notifications: sent when you're not actively using Facebook (example: on your device's lockscreen). These show up as numbers over the in Facebook's navigation, or over the Facebook app on your phone. You can't turn in-app notifications off completely, but you can choose what you get notified about.
Setting the incoming call volume
- Open the Settings app.
- Choose Sound.
- Set the phone's ringer volume by touching Volumes or Volume.
- Manipulate the Ringtone slider left or right to specify how loud the phone rings for an incoming call.
- Touch OK to set the ringer volume.
You should be able to change the default alert sounds by going to Settings > Notifications and then select the apps that you want, for you Facebook and Messenger app and select the alert sound that you want.
Press the Android phone's "Power" button and hold it until a menu appears on the screen. Clear the "Silent Mode" check box in the menu to disable the Silent Mode option. Press the "Up" volume button on the Android phone until the Silent Mode icon on the screen changes.
If you open your Facebook Messenger's settings tab, you'll find a Notifications and Sounds menu item that deceivingly looks like a toggle switch. Tap it, however, and you'll be taken to a whole sub-menu dedicated to tones and notifications. Once there, you may pick a new sound for incoming texts and free calls.
