Ovcharka Caucasian Mountain Dog
Cobras are another snake that could kill a tiger in a forest. King cobras are found living in rain forests of India. These snakes kill with their venom. They normally prey on other snakes, lizards, eggs and small animals, and so they would not likely attack a tiger in a premeditated way, in order to eat it.
A Bengal tiger can take down a bull Cape buffalo face to face but very rarely. Most times, it will do so by ambush. The buffalo wins.
Assess the situation and distance. Either back away slowly allowing them to move, or walk around them and keep your distance at all times. Again, never approach a bison. If the bison doesn't move, it's you who should back away.
Assuming they're both at peak physical strength, the bull will likely be nearly three times the lion's weight (1400-1600lb vs 500-600lb), much, much more aggressive, and can kill the lion whether the lion is in front, behind, or underneath.
Weight. Considering the unavoidable size differences between the two, the bear should be hot favourite to win any battle with a lion. The average grizzly bear can easily tip the scales at 300 kg (660 lbs), making it well over a third heavier than a large lion at 180 kg (400 lbs).
If you ever encounter a tiger in the wild (or if you do one in your dreams :-)), look in the eyes and slowly back far, far away while keeping eye contact with him and he is less likely to kill you. Tigers prefer to hunt by ambush, so by looking a tiger in the eyes you are showing him you know he is there.
Rare attacks have occurred in China. It is possible for humans to win a fight against a leopard, as in the case of a 56-year-old woman who killed an attacking leopard with a sickle and spade, and survived with heavy injuries, and the case of a 73-year-old man in Kenya who fatally tore the tongue out of a leopard.
"Cape buffalo are known to kill lions, and can seek out and kill lion cubs — preventative punishment."
In addition to charging other animals, such as their eternal enemy, the lion, the buffalo can also attack humans, in fact it is responsible for about 200 victims a year; the Cape buffalo is an animal with a fiery temperament and above all the most risky buffaloes to meet are those nicknamed "dugga".
The leopard relies so heavily on its camouflage, it will lie dead still until the absolute last second, hoping you will not see it and simply pass it by. Believe me, this happens. If you do see it and look it in the eye, it knows it's cover has been blown and has to react. The so-called “Flight or Fight” response.
If you see a mountain lion:
- Stay calm. Hold your ground or back away slowly.
- Do not approach a lion. Never approach a mountain lion, especially one that is feeding or with kittens.
- Do not run from a lion. Running may stimulate a mountain lion's instinct to chase.
- Do not crouch down or bend over.
SHOT PLACEMENTThe first recommended lethal shot is the traditional shot in the heart/lung area. This shot is used by most hunters and can be placed by locating the area slightly above the animal's knee.

HippopotamusIn the words of author and hunter Peter Hathaway Capstick, “It is my personal opinion that hippo meat is one of the finest of game foods … The taste is mild, less than lamb and more than beef, slightly more marbled than usual venison. It tastes exactly like, well, hippo.”
10 Surprisingly Tasty Animals
- #2 – Alligator / Caiman / Crocodile. They're all pretty similar from my limited dining experiences.
- #3 – Ostrich. I first had Ostrich in Africa, but luckily there is an Ostrich farm not too far from home.
- #5 – Horse.
- #6 Wild Boar.
- #7 – Wapiti and Elk.
- #9 – Impala.
- #10 – Alpaca and Llama.
Bears that dine mainly on salmon, for example, taste worse than those with a more varied diet. Since 99 percent of a giant panda's diet is bamboo—with the occasional addition of a rodent, bird, or fish that popped out of a stream—it's very unlikely that its flesh tastes anything like that of other bears.
Gamey is an interesting word to describe flavors. When you're eating something gamey the smell tends to be more earthy than "normal" meats. Almost like a campfire, mushrooms and nuts mixed together. The taste often has an irony taste kind of like liver (but not quite).
Horse meat is widely reported to be somewhat sweet, a little gamey, and a cross between beef and venison, according to the International Business Times. While meat from younger horses tends to be a bit pinkish in color, older horses have a darker, reddish-colored meat.
That means dogs have about one-sixth the tasting power that we have. Like us, dogs can taste sweet, salty, sour and bitter; but unlike us, they have a fifth set of taste buds specific to water. And dogs also have a set of taste buds dedicated to helping them find meat.
Predators. Although bison have few natural predators because of their size, wolves, mountain lions and bears do attack the very young or very old bison. In some areas, people legally hunt bison or raise them for their meat and hides. There are, however, some protected herds that reside in national parks and reserves.
The two main species of buffalo are the African or Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer) and the endangered wild Asian water buffalo (Bubalus arnee). There's also a domestic water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis), that is smaller than its wild cousin.
How heavy is a Cape buffalo?
They're big and they're strongFully gown, it can be between 1.8 – 3.4 metres long (6 – 11 feet); 1 – 1.7 metres tall (3.2 – 5.6 feet) and weigh between 300 – 860 kilograms (660 - 1,900 pounds). It has a massive head and boss (horns), a broad chest and sturdy legs. It's said to be four times stronger than an ox.
Lions. Lions are the laziest of the big cats and spend up to 20 hours a day snoozing. But they are also very quick on their toes, hunt in packs and are responsible for killing around 250 people a year. “You've got to be careful with lions," warns Wood.
Are cape buffalo endangered?
Least Concern (Population decreasing)
The biological subfamily Bovinae includes a diverse group of 10 genera of medium to large-sized ungulates, including domestic cattle, bison, African buffalo, the water buffalo, and the four-horned and spiral-horned antelopes. The largest extant bovine is the gaur.
Buffalo are herbivores, and so eat only vegetation. Their favorite foods are grass and herbs, but water buffalo will also eat aquatic plants.
