Fisher tracks. The front track usually measures about 2 1/4 to 4 inches in width. It has 5 clawed toes, with the innermost toe (toe #1) being small and set back. That innermost toe often does not register, but the other toes usually do.
Cougar tracks show four toes on both the front and hind paws, and an M-shaped heel pad with two lobes at the top or leading edge, and three lobes at the base. A cougar carries its heavy tail in a wide U-shape at a normal walk, and in snow, the lower portion of its tail can leave drag marks between each print.
But their feet are also very unusual. They have four splayed toes on their front feet and three toes on their hind feet; and all of the toes are covered by hardened nails, so they resemble very small hooves. Tapir feet are mesaxonic, which means that the central toe is the biggest and forms the foot's axis.
Deer tracks are usually easy to identify. However, their hind feet tend to step on top of their front tracks leaving distorted and confusing marks. In deep snow even deer tracks can be tough to identify. Heart-shaped deer tracks in snow headed to the right.
The African Elephant has the most significant amount of scent-detecting genes numbering 1,948. An elephant's sense of smell is most reliable when dealing with water. Elephants can detect water 12 miles away. An elephant's trunk has numerous receptors mainly for smelling and grasping among other uses.
In the perisodactyls, horses and donkeys have toes reduced to one while tapirs have three toes on the rear foot and four on the front with the axis of weight on one toe on the front feet.
Bear, skunk, woodchuck, raccoon, muskrat, beaver, porcupine are waddlers. Bounders: Bounders place their front feet down, and in one motion they leap forward by lifting up their front feet and putting their rear feet in the exact spot where the front feet previously landed.
Fox tracks look like other types of canine footprints. The pests have four toes and a distinct triangular paw pad. Though similar to coyotes, fox prints tend to be narrower. They are symmetrical and typically appear in a straight line due to the animal's alternating gait.

Under Los Angeles law, a resident can have up to three cats. Some City Hall officials are considering upping that number to five cats. And if a resident registers with the city, they could house 20 or more cats.
Here, the Los Angeles Basin, the Channel Islands, and the Pacific Ocean are treated as distinct regions. Common animals that live throughout all the state include raccoons, weasels, otters, beavers, hawks, lizards, owls, coyotes, skunks, snakes, cougars, black bears, deers, squirrels and whales.

Los Angeles Zoo
It may seem obvious, but the best and most convenient petting zoo I've found in the area is definitely the LA Zoo. It has a fantastic kid's area (pun only slightly intended, as it's full of goats). So, here are five great places where you can get to know some goats — and, during kidding season, maybe even hold a baby.
- Angeles Crest Creamery, Valyermo. Want to wake up with goats and then go on a hike with them?
- Chivas Skin Care, Fillmore.
- Drake Family Farms, Ontario.
Guenons, like all primates, are very high maintenance. There are almost two dozen species of guenons, with the green monkey, vervet, and grivet being possibly the most popular in captivity. They thrive in large groups, therefore one by itself is not suited to live in a house of humans.
Even though keeping monkeys as pets is frowned upon—it can be difficult, costly, cruel, and dangerous—they are easily obtained from private breeders. Lemurs, tamarins, and marmosets run in the range of $1,500 to $2,500; rhesus macaques and baboons might cost $3,500; and spider monkeys tend to be around $6,000.
Old World monkeys versus New World monkeys. New World monkeys have broad noses with a wide septum separating outwardly directed nostrils, whereas Old World monkeys have narrow noses with a thin septum and downward-facing nostrils, as do apes and humans.

Costa Rica has lots of wildlife. Nothing beats seeing monkeys and sloths in the wild. Going to a responsible rescue center can be rewarding as well. So the only monkeys you should be able to hold are the ones that can never be released to the wild.
The Elephant Ranch allows tourists to get up close and personal with the majestic animals. The Two Tails Ranch located near Gainesville lets people feed, bathe and even ride the eight elephants living at the ranch.
In California, a sloth is a restricted species, however, it is possible to acquire a permit.
If the answer to this is “no,” then you cannot have a pet sloth. Most vets will refuse to treat exotic animals. Are you willing to go without vacation for as long as the sloth lives? If you get a permit, your permit will only cover you and the address of your home.
They roamed North America and became extinct around 10,000 years ago. Sloths have an average life span of 20 to 30 years in the wild, but captive sloths tend to live a bit longer.

Sloths may not look very menacing or even dangerous, but if their ancestors caught you, they could make you wish for a quick and swift death.
They are known to be very affectionate; even though they are tagged as slow animals, they love to play. Sloths love to cuddle and may become grumpy if you don't hug them, but a small hug will melt their heart.
Sloths in Florida locations are plenty in Florida. Florida has become the Mega Sloth Encounter destination in the United States.
