Yes and No. LuLaRoe is owned by Mormons, but not all its consultants are Mormons. Consultants also have “pop up” boutiques or home-based selling parties, much like Tupperware or Mary Kay. LuLaRoe, a company that promised its sellers the chance to become entrepreneurs by selling clothing directly to their social networks, was running a "pyramid scheme'' that burdened consultants with debt and items they couldn't sell, according to a lawsuit filed in Washington State.
Another $4.5 million lawsuit was filed in California in November 2019 on behalf of a group of consultants, who are alleging LuLaRoe is running an illegal pyramid scheme. Last fall, the company laid off all 167 workers in their Corona, California, warehouse and permanently closed it.
