The simple tonfa, originally a handle used to rotate a gristmill, has been overshadowed by some flashier Okinawan weapons, but it's every bit as effective and deadly as any other component of the makeshift armament of the Ryukyu.

Elektra's Twin Sai are the personal weapon of Elektra. They are a traditional weapon from Okinawan martial arts usually used as a piercing weapon, but Elektra sometimes has also used them as throwing weapons.
With relatively little training, an individual could develop an arsenal of bone breaking blocks, strikes and counters, effectively establishing tactical superiority over the unarmed, or lightly armed opponent. At higher levels of execution, Tonfa proved to be effective even against the sword wielding samurai.
The tonfa (Okinawan: トンファー tonfÄ, Chinese: 柺; pinyin: guÇŽi lit. old man's staff / "crutch"), also spelled as tongfa or tuifa, also known as T-baton is a melee weapon best known for its role in the armed component of Okinawan martial arts.
Side-handled batons were issued for a while, but fell out of favour. Another baton, that was used at night, was 660 mm (26 in) long and called a night-stick, which is the origin of the word "nightstick". The night-stick was longer so it could provide extra protection which was thought to be necessary at night.
The PR-24's design gave the baton the ability to be a defensive tool, rather than just an offensive striking weapon. The “Y†gap created by the side handle and the short arm of the baton could also be used to control a suspect's wrist, arm, or neck in a pinch.
The Nunchaku (ヌンãƒãƒ£ã‚¯), also known as “nunchukâ€, “nunchuckâ€, or “chainstickâ€, is a traditional Japanese weapon originally developed in Okinawa. In more modern times, the nunchaku was popularized by the martial arts icon Bruce Lee. It is widely used in karate and the Okinawan kobudÅ martial arts.

In the Philippines, escrima is a style similar to sword fighting and is sometimes referred to as Kali or Arnis de Mano.
