Ajna or Agya(Sanskrit: ?????, IAST: Ājñā, IPA: [aː??aː]) or Brow or third eye chakra, is the sixth primary chakra in the body according to Hindu tradition. It is a part of the brain which can be made more powerful through meditation, yoga and other spiritual practices just as a muscle is.
The third eye refers to the gate that leads to the inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. In spirituality, the third eye often symbolizes a state of enlightenment or the evocation of mental images having deeply personal spiritual or psychological significance.
Yoga can open blocked chakras by manipulating the various body parts associated with the chakra through movements in yoga poses designed to stimulate these energy centers. For example, there are five chakras yoga poses you can practice that will release the correlating blocked energy center.
Inhale, exhale through the nose. With the eyes still closed, try to look up at the third eye, located just between your eyebrows. You can also make use of your fingers to locate the exact point. Next, breathe slowly and channelise your gaze and concentrate on this point.
WHAT DOES THE CROWN CHAKRA DO? This chakra is all about spiritual connection and transformation. It lifts and inspires you, connecting you to the divine (you might call this angelic energy, the Source, or God.) This chakra also gives you a sense of your own divinity, the awareness that you are a soul in a human body.
The Crown Chakra is associated with the central nervous system/Pineal gland.
Your Root Chakra is what causes your survival instincts, also known as the fight or flight responses. As the base of the chakra system, the Root Chakra is located at the base of your spine. It is associated with the color red, symbolizing strength and vitality.
“Some people are able to see their aura by softening and slightly squinting their eyes and looking in a mirror,” Longo says. “However, this takes some practice.” Your aura may best be picked up by your peripheral vision. That is, if you focus on it, you won't see it.
Kundalini yoga consists of six main components, which are done in the following order:
- Opening chant. Every class begins with an opening chant, also known as tuning in.
- Pranayama or warmup.
- Kriya.
- Relaxation.
- Meditation.
- Closing chant.
