If you have the Photoshop window selected press V on the keyboard and this will select the Move Tool. Using the Marquee tool select an area of your image that you want to move. Then click, hold and drag your mouse. You will notice that when you move your selection the space behind where the image was becomes blank.
Open the "Select" menu, choose "All," open the "Edit" menu and select "Copy." Open the destination image project, click the "Edit" menu and choose "Paste" to move the image. Photoshop will add the second image in a new layer instead of overwriting existing layer content.

Select the Move tool , or hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac OS) to activate the Move tool. Copy the selection: Hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS), and drag the selection. To copy the selection and offset the duplicate by 1 pixel, hold down Alt or Option, and press an arrow key.
Invert a selection
In a photo with an existing selection border, choose Select > Inverse. Note: You can use this command to easily select an object that appears against a solid-colored area. Select the solid color using the Magic Wand tool, and then choose Select > Inverse.How does the Patch Tool work?
- Select the Patch tool and draw an area around your selection.
- Move the cursor over the selected area and drag it to the left, right, or in any direction.

Try turning off Use Graphics Processor" in Preferences performance and restart. If that works , turn it back on and try each of the drawing modes in "Advanced" . If working with the GPU off resolves your issue and you are on Windows , then check the GPU driver from the GPU manufatcturers site.
When you're done with a selection created with the Lasso Tool, you can remove it by going up to the Select menu at the top of the screen and choosing Deselect, or you can press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D (Win) / Command+D (Mac). You can also simply click anywhere inside of the document with the Lasso Tool.
The Lasso tool is helpful for drawing a free-form border around a selected object within an image. It allows you to soften the edges of your selection or add a feathering effect; it's also useful for anti-aliasing.
Photoshop Crop Tool. The Crop tool allows you to select an area of an image and discard everything outside this area. The tool is located third from the top in the Photoshop Toolbox, on the left side. Although cropping reduces the dimensions of an image, it is not the same as resizing.
