Late charges: Late charges are a major problem faced in guest account settlement. A late charge is a transaction requiring posting to a guest folio that does not reach the front office until the guest has checked out and left the hotel.
The wash factor is the hotel's estimate of no-shows plus cancellations and early departures. This means that a guest has a guaranteed booking at a hotel but the hotel will not be able to accommodate the guest for that night. Therefore, the guest is “walked” to an alternative hotel facility.

A floor limit is the amount of money above which credit card transactions must be authorized. The limit can vary from store to store. Floor limits have become less significant as credit cards started being processed electronically and all transactions are typically authorized.

Traditionally, a hotel PMS was defined as software that enabled a hotel or group of hotels to manage front-office capabilities, such as booking reservations, guest check-in/checkout, room assignment, managing room rates, and billing. A hotel PMS replaced time consuming, paper-intensive processes.
The night auditor is mainly responsible for identifying accounts which have reached or exceeded the fixed credit limits. Such accounts are called high risk or high balance accounts. The front office may deny additional charge purchase privileges to such accounts.
Paging is the process of locating a guest in a given area within the hotel premises. The concierge or bell desk team then writes the guest details on the paging board and deploys a bell boy to do the paging with the board.
Cash Banks/cash floatThe amount is to be used for making change when guests settle their accounts, processing paid outs and for providing other cash related services. The Bank limit is the amount the bank should have at the beginning of the shift . Cashiers have to sign for their bank at the beginning of their shift.
