Miracast
- Open the Settings menu. Every Android phone is a little different, and yours might have a simpler way of doing this.
- Select Display.
- Choose Cast Screen.
- Choose your receiver.
- Open the Settings menu.
- Select System.
- Ensure that you're in the Display menu.
- Click "Connect to a wireless display."
The simplest option is an HDMI adapter. If your phone has a USB-C port, you can plug this adapter into your phone, and then plug an HDMI cable into the adapter to connect to the TV. Your phone will need to support HDMI Alt Mode, which allows mobile devices to output video.
So if you wanted to connect your cable box to two TVs, you'd need to connect the box's HDMI out port to the wireless transmitter to send the signal to the TV in a different room and use one of the other connection cables (HDMI, coaxial, RCA composite, etc.) to connect to the TV near the cable outlet.
A smart TV uses your home network to provide streaming video and services on your TV, and smart TVs use wired Ethernet and built-in Wi-Fi to stay connected. Most current TVs support 802.11ac Wi-Fi, but watch for older models, which may still use the older 802.11n standard.
If your TV has WiFi there should be a WiFi Alliance logo on the box and often times at the bottom of the screen on the base of the television. In your settings menu, you'll also find a network connections or Wi-Fi Setup section.
The main difference is that a smart TV can access WiFi and run the apps just like a smartphone where your normal TV can't. A smart TV can access the internet which is the main source of media content like YouTube, Netflix, etc.
If you have a smart TV from LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Sharp or Toshiba it is very likely that there will be an Netflix app available on the set's respective app store. The app will be free to download and install on your connected TV but you will need a subscription.
Android TV
Some support Bluetooth, but only for use with a keyboard and mouse. Others, do support Bluetooth headphones, and you pair them just as you would with any other Android device.Many smart TVs have built-in cameras that use facial recognition to make programming suggestions based on who's watching or for live, two-way conversations on a large screen. These intuitive TVs also respond to voice commands "for those of us who are too lazy to actually pick up the remote," the FBI says.
Smart Hub is the intelligent menu system for Samsung Smart TVs. Through the Smart hub you have access to all the functions of your TV and can even download apps, games and browse the internet.
There are some latency-free Wireless HDMI products for gamers, but they tend to have a range of about 30 feet, so they're really only good for tidying up your entertainment center. Of course, there are some situations where Wireless HDMI makes sense.
One way signals can reach the TV without wires is by using existing wireless computer networks or Wi-Fi. The standard governing such networks is called 802.11, and the latest version, 802.11n, has enough speed and capacity to handle wireless TV signals.
A Smart TV can be used extensively without an internet connection; however, if you're looking to access more advanced features, you may want a standard model. An internet connection is required to use most of the “Smart” features on your TV.
