This slime activator does work. My 9 and 10 year old children both prefer the Elmer's slime activators to any other brand on the market. If you don't use enough of it, it will be sticky. They don't follow the bottle directions, but just “feel” the slime until it's the consistency they want.
With the Elmer's Glue Slime Magical Liquid Activator, all you need to do is pour your desired bottle of glue in a large bowl and add 1/4 cup of the magic solution. That's it! Then mix as usual and get some awesome slime in no time. From there – you can add all the fun stuff like glitter, colors etc.
Take flour, then mix it with shampoo and a small portion of toothpaste. Make sure the shampoo and the toothpaste are in larger quantities than the flour. Add color mix if you want the slime to be more colorful. If your slime is wet, put it in the freezer for 10 - 15 minutes or more.
Elmer's glue (sometimes clear, sometimes white) is the main ingredient for slime, along with water and borax or liquid fabric softener — called "slime activators" in the slime world. From there, adding food coloring or paint will change the hue, and adding glitter or tiny balls or beads adds sparkle or texture.
Problem: My slime is too runny and stringy, and super-dooper sticky! Diagnosis: You may not have used enough liquid starch. Fix: Gradually add more liquid starch, about a tablespoon at a time. Stir it together thoroughly before adding more starch.
The secret ingredient to make your slime glossy is baby oil.
If you're looking for a slime recipe that won't leave your backyard looking like Reptar puked on it, look no further than a basic “fluffy slime.” The trick to this slime is the baby oil – it makes it less sticky and way easier to manipulate.
Base Oils. Coconut Oil: Coconut oil, unlike many other oils we commonly use, is a solid at room temperature. That makes it a great substitute for Vaseline (another petroleum by-product) and also super as a baby oil that's easier to use without spilling.
When making slime, we like to use a ratio of 1 part water, 1 part laundry starch, and 1 part glue. Our slime comes out perfect every single time! We like to use gel food colors because they create vibrant colors that really pop!
Use baking soda to thicken slime that is made with saline solution. Add an extra ¼ tsp (1 g) of baking soda to the slime if you have made it with clear glue. If you have used white glue, add an extra ½ tsp (2 g) of baking soda. Use a spoon to mix the extra baking soda into the slime and then knead it for 2-3 minutes.
- BORAX POWDER. Borax powder is the most widely known of the slime activators and contains borax or sodium tetraborate.
- SALINE SOLUTION. This is our number one favorite on the slime activator list because it makes an awesome stretchy slime.
- LIQUID STARCH.
- EYE DROPS OR EYE WASH.
How to make milk slime: In a bowl mix 1/2 cup milk with 4 teaspoons of vinegar (or 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon). Mix together and wait for a minute as the milk curdles. Drain the solids using a coffee filter or cheese cloth – let the solids dry well, you can even press the milk curdles against the filter.
