The Westminster Confession of Faith is a Reformed confession of faith. For more than three hundred years, various churches around the world have adopted the confession and the catechisms as their standards of doctrine, subordinate to the Bible.
What is the chief end of man? A. Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.
At the age of 27, Calvin published Institutes of the Christian Religion, which in successive editions became a manual of Protestant theology. Calvin agreed with Martin Luther on justification by faith and the sole authority of Scripture.

Chief End: The absolute highest purpose; the thing most valued in and of itself. A person can have only one chief end. Ultimate End: Something sought for its own sake. A person can have multiple ultimate ends and various levels of desire relating to them.
Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the Lord glory and strength. Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come into His courts. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!

Since 1560, the building is no longer an abbey or a cathedral, having instead the status of a Church of England "Royal Peculiar"—a church responsible directly to the sovereign.
