West Indies opener Chris Gayle overtook former South Africa captain AB de Villiers as the highest six-hitter in the history of the ICC World Cup. Gayle reached his 39thsix when he smashed two back-to-back sixes of Pakistan's Hasan Ali in the second game of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Dhoni chops into the off-side for one more, to bring the target within one hit. 6 off 13 and the last ball of the over is flicked by Yuvraj down to long-on for a single. Two overs left, five runs to win, and the crowd are now jumping up and down, their every neuron itching to get the party started.
Vice-captain Virender Sehwag, who had opted out of the ODI series in South Africa, has made a return for cricket's biggest event.
Although wickets kept falling at
one end, Jayawardene scored 103 runs in 88 balls; he was involved in a partnership
of 66 runs
with Thisara Perera.

The main reason due to which India lost today according to me was that Dhoni was not sent at number 4. Virat and Rohit had done a great job and the time was perfect for Dhoni to come in, take his time and finish the job. But Pant was sent in and that was the moment when India lost the game.

Seven venues have hosted the final; only two of those – Lord's, in London, and the Melbourne Cricket Ground – have hosted multiple finals. India is the only country that has hosted a World Cup final at more than one venue, with Eden Gardens, Kolkata, hosting in 1987 and Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium hosting in 2011.
So the short answer to the question, can India win the World Cup, is "yes", but then so can any of the other semi-finalists. Sometimes one match in the middle can make the difference; in 2011, India were a different team after they beat Australia, and even their fielding standards shot up.
New Zealand, the team that many thought had no business being in semi-final because they made it to top 4 because of better run-rate, knocked India over to enter their 2nd World Cup final in a row. Some thought it was rain that spoiled India's momentum when they had New Zealand on the mat on the first day.

India played New Zealand twice in this World Cup and won both the times. In Bangalore, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Kapil smashed blistering half centuries, while Kiran More slammed 42* off 26 balls to lead India to 252 for 7 in their 50 overs.

India won the World Cup in 1983 and 2011, while West Indies won in 1975 and 1979. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the other two countries that have won the World Cup in 1992 and 1996 respectively. England is the only country which lost 3 finals and hosted the world cup 5 times.
New Zealand
The team, again, known to be one of the strongest cricketing sides, has never won the cricket world cup. New Zealand's best performance at the cricket world cup has been reaching the finals in the 2015 edition where it ended up being the runners-up.The countries South Africa and "New Zealand have never won" the World Cup in one Day International albeit New Zealand was the runner up in the 2019 World Cup, lost in the super over.
England have finally won the World Cup and what a thrilling finish it was. Chasing 16 in the Super Over, New Zealand managed 15 but England won because they scored more boundaries in the whole match. A World Cup final has just been tied off 50 overs, tied off the Super Over, and decided by superior boundary count.
