To change default sort order, go to Settings and tap 'Default notes sort order' option. Choose one among the five sort orders: by modified time, by created time, alphabetically, by color, by reminder time, or choose 'Last used sort order'.
Just like with the Reminders app, you can drag and drop folders in the Notes app to group them together and form subfolders. Your device needs to be running iOS 13 or later for all the latest Notes features. Here's how to create a subfolder or merge/group folders: Tap New Folder to create a new folder.
Tap New Note in the bottom right corner. Tap the Camera button on the toolbar above the keyboard. Select either Take Photo or Video or Photo Library option.
Search in Google Keep
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Keep app.
- At the top right, tap Search .

Go to check your email settings. Or you may turn off iCloud sync for your email account, which leads to iPhone notes disappeared. Go to your email account to see if the Notes Sync toggle is off. Settings > Mail > Accounts > Tap your account > Turn Notes on.
To scan documents on your iPhone, go the Home screen and open Notes. Tap the + icon at the bottom of the page, and select Scan Documents from the list of the options. This should launch your phone's camera. When the camera detects the document you want to scan, it will highlight it in yellow on the screen.
Recover deleted notes
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Keep .
- In the top-left corner, tap Menu Trash .
- Click or tap a note to open it.
- To move a note out of the trash, tap Action. Restore.
Use Search to find your notes
- Open Notes, then tap. Back until you see your list of notes.
- Tap the Search bar and type a word, phrase, or the title from the note that you're looking for.
- Make sure All Accounts is selected. Search will check all of your notes in each folder across your accounts, like an email account.
Open the Notes app on iPhone. Each account (iCloud, Gmail, On My iPhone, Yahoo, etc.) has its own Recently Deleted folder. If you're not sure where the note you deleted was stored, simply check each folder. Tap on the Recently Deleted folder to look through your deleted notes and find the one you want to recover.
By default with modern versions of iOS, the Notes app sets the default account save location of note data to iCloud, but if you wish to adjust the Notes default so that notes are local instead, you can do so via settings.

Pinning a note 'pins' it at the top of the Notes app, so you can easily find and access it later, and no matter how many new notes you add, or how many old notes you edit, pinned notes are always where you pinned them. To keep a note at the top of the notes list, swipe right on the note in the list, then tap the pin.
