Reasons Your Remote Start is Not Working:Improper Starting Procedure. Vehicle Not in 'Park' Too Many Remote Start Attempts. Coolant and Oil Pressure.
All remote starters, whether from Compustar, Arctic Start, or another brand, draw power from your battery. However, it is still possible for a remote car starter to consume too much power from your battery.
Remote starters increase engine wear and tear. This is a common misconception about remote starters. It's unclear why people are lead to believe this is the case, but it's untrue. The consensus among mechanics is that remote starters are good for your engine, especially for people with turbos or diesel engines.
If the 'Check Engine Light' or Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is illuminated, the remote start will not work. Don't panic, one of the reasons the MIL can illuminate is due to a loose gas cap!
The key fob itself could be defective or have a bad unlock button. Try the lock button, trunk release button or panic button. If the other buttons work, the problem is a bad unlock button. A fault in the wiring or control circuitry, or even a blown fuse may be preventing the power door locks from unlocking.
Check your vehicle's key fobThe key fob for your car will have a special button if your vehicle has a remote starter. The symbol for the remote start is usually an arrow making a partial circle, as seen above. However, take note that some vehicle brands might use a different symbol for remote start.
By far the greatest advantage of having a remote start system is the convenience and comfort it affords. Whatever the weather, you can start your car and have it warmed up or cooled off and ready to drive as soon as you get in. And you can do all of this without having to leave the comfort of your home or office.
Remote Not PairedStart by replacing the batteries in your remote to rule out a dead battery, but if you still get no response then you might try re-pairing your remote. Since there are different pairing procedures for different Viper remotes, I can't give you a universal procedure to follow.
The best way to tell whether you have it is to look at the key fob; the remote-start button is shaped like a curved arrow. If you don't see it, your car is not equipped with it.
Valet mode is a setting in Firstech systems that will shut down the alarm system and the remote starter. It will only allow the remotes to retain key-less entry to be used to lock and unlock the doors.
Here we have some examples of the valet button/switch:It is usually located under the dash on the driver or passenger side.
Start the vehicle. Press and release the foot brake pedal 10 times within 10 seconds. This procedure will only deactivate Valet Mode, it will not activate Valet Mode. The vehicles parking lights should flash twice to indicate the system has exited valet mode.
It is under driver profiles. Select Valet and enter any 4 digit code to activate it. Use the same code to deactivate it.
