SYNC ® offers a variety of multimedia options for listening to your vehicle's audio system. You can use the AM/FM radio and CD player, as well as SiriusXM ® and HD Radio options. Stream music with your Bluetooth ® enabled smartphone or plug into your vehicle's media hub with your USB media player.

The basic SYNC system is standard in Ford vehicles today but has been available since 2007. The MyFord upgrade kept identical features but added a larger color display. You can control SYNC using buttons on your steering wheel, or through voice commands.
If you experience problems with SYNC®—or you are transferring ownership of the vehicle—you should perform a master reset. This process erases all stored data—such as call history, text message information, and previously paired phones—and restores your system to factory settings.
On your Android device, download the Android Auto app from Google Play. Enable Android Auto on your SYNC system by pressing Settings > Android Auto Preferences > Enable Android Auto. Connect your Android device to your Ford USB port using a manufacturer-approved USB cable.
In general a device that reads from a USB stick without any options will simply pull it in alphabetical order. The only way to shuffle these songs is to actually rename them before putting the USB stick inside the player.
YouTube With Friends allows you and friends to watch synchronized YouTube videos together. To sync up video playback, all you need to do is: 1) Find a video you want to watch. Create the party using the 'Start Watching' button. 2) Send the link provided in the extension to all your friends you want to watch with.
Most mobile phones today have Bluetooth technology by default anyways, so you should be good to go. What's even better is that the Ford SYNC also works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so it better integrates with your mobile phone preferences.
Is Ford SYNC safe? The Ford SYNC system is a little different. This live system can interact with other devices including your phone. They have designed systems that make it more difficult for hackers to get their hands on anything.
To enable the device sync:
- Click the Start button.
- Click the Settings icon.
- Click Accounts.
- Click Sign in with a Microsoft account and enter your account information. Move to step 5 if you don't see that option.
- Click Sync your settings.
- Turn on the switch next to Sync Settings.
SYNC Services is by subscription. It is $60 per year, payable by credit card. That said, some vehicles come with a complimentary SYNC Services account, if you have a 2014 (or previous) vehicle with MyFord Touch, you have a complimentary 3-year Services account. On 2015 models, the complimentary account is 1-year.
Gmail apps sync is a useful feature as it can save you a lot of valuable time. But the simple fact that this feature is available doesn't mean that you have to use it. If it is convenient for you to use, use it! If not, simply turn it off and save your data usage.

Manually sync your account
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- Tap Accounts.
- If you have more than one account on your phone, tap the one you want to sync.
- Tap Account sync.
- Tap More. Sync now.
To set up SYNC My Ride, simply follow these easy steps:
- Create an account at the Ford Sync My Ride website.
- From the website, select “HELLO, YOUR NAME,” then choose “Your Settings.”
- Select the “Vehicles & SYNC” tab.
- Find “SYNC Mobile Settings and select “Add a Number.”
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- From any Home screen, tap Apps.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Accounts.
- Tap desired account under the 'Accounts'.
- To sync all apps and accounts: Tap the MORE icon. Tap Sync all.
- To sync select apps and accounts: Tap your account. Clear any check boxes you do not want to sync.
For Android phones, go to Settings > System > Advanced> Reset Options > Reset Wi-fi, mobile & Bluetooth. For iOS and iPadOS device, you'll have to unpair all of your devices (go to Setting > Bluetooth, select the info icon and and choose Forget This Device for each device) then restart your phone or tablet.
How to connect an Android phone to your car with Bluetooth
- Step 1: Initiate paring on your car's stereo. Start the Bluetooth pairing process on your car's stereo.
- Step 2: Head into your phone's setup menu.
- Step 3: Select Bluetooth Settings submenu.
- Step 4: Select your stereo.
- Step 5: Enter PIN.
- Step 6: Enjoy your music.
SYNC also supports audio formats, such as MP3, WMA, WAV and ACC.
