Go to the online banking log on page, locate the security code field and then select the 'forgot PIN' link. From there, enter the answers to your security questions, enter the unlock code from your device and follow the onscreen instructions to create a new PIN.
Unlock your device, then from the HSBC screen press and hold button 8 for 2 seconds to access the change PIN function. Step 2. Enter your new 4 to 8 digit PIN using the keypad (Press the green button if you need to delete one character and hold it to clear the screen).
If needed, the SWIFT code is BBME AEAD.
The Secure Key does not have an off button. After 30 seconds of inactivity, the device will automatically switch off. If your battery is running low you can replace your HSBC Secure Key by: Switching to Digital Secure Key via the 'Manage Secure Key' section within Online Banking after you have logged in.
Online banking
- Log on to online banking.
- Select the account you want to activate the card for.
- Select Manage, then Activate card, and follow the instructions.

Once you download the HSBC Mobile Banking App on your new smartphone, you can log on and select "Activate Digital Security Device" from the settings menu. You will be asked to generate a security code from your old phone in order to switch your Digital Security Device from your old phone to your new one.
If you've forgotten your phone banking security number, you can reset it by calling 03457 404 404.

Digital Secure Key, a function of HSBC Mobile Banking application, is an application of one time password generation, which you can use in your iOS and Android mobile devices. Following the activation of Digital Secure Key, you can access the HSBC Mobile Banking application just with a single password.
Your telephone banking security number is a 6 to 10 digit number that only you will know. It is what we use to verify you if you call us. You may have been asked to set this up at the time you opened your account.
Payee information cannot be edited. You will have to delete and create a new payee.
If you can't remember your username, or it is not recognised at log on, you can retrieve it by following the 'Forgot your Username' link. You will be asked a set of questions and the username will be shown on the screen. You can change your username once you have logged onto online banking.
Open the HSBC Mobile Banking app on your phone and select Generate Security Code. Select Re-authentication security code. Password option – Enter your Digital Security Device passcode and select Generate code.
Your HSBC Secure Key is locked.
To do this:
- Start to log on and enter your username.
- At the next screen click the 'Forgotten your Secure Key PIN' link which you will find under the field 'Generate and enter the 6 digit security code'
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Download the mobile banking App onto it, and then log in using your online banking password. Once you're in, tap 'more' and then 'security settings' again. This time, choose 'activate Secure Key' and follow the steps on screen.
Setting up your Digital Secure KeyFirst, you'll need the first direct mobile banking app downloaded on your smartphone. Once you've logged on, just go to 'Security Settings' in the menu, and select 'Activate Digital Secure Key'.
