Here's the big qualifier: Unless you carry your phone with you, the Versa does not calculate your distance based on GPS. The Versa also can't track elevation gain and loss or generate exact course maps without a phone nearby.
The SmartTrack feature detects the difference between walking, running, outdoor biking, elliptical, and swimming. The device will register a workout in those categories. You can also log an exercise session manually with the “Track Exercise” function on the Fitbit app or online dashboard.
If you don't have a compatible phone or tablet, you can set up and sync most Fitbit devices on your computer with Fitbit Connect. Fitbit Connect is a free software application that lets your Fitbit device sync its data with your fitbit.com dashboard.
If you need a quick workout but want to burn maximum calories, use your device to track a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout. You can also learn more about HIIT in the Fitbit blog: It's Never Too Late to Take Up High-Intensity Interval Training.
Overall, the Versa 2's fitness tracking features are the best and most comprehensive you'll find on any smartwatch, even though it doesn't have a dedicated GPS radio and relies on your phone for GPS tracking. And that's where the Versa 2 runs into many of the similar problems as its predecessor.

Fitbit Charge 3The latest Fitbit model has a built in “treadmill mode” that tracks steps and heart rate during your workout session, while disabling GPS functions. If your stride length is calibrated correctly, you'll get an accurate recording of your workout based on your steps. (Just don't hold on to the bar!
It's still not the cheapest smartwatch out there, but it's significantly less than the original selling price of the Versa and much less than the Ionic, potentially making it a top choice for your first smartwatch. You can connect the Versa Lite to your smartphone; you'll receive notifications for texts, phone calls, and all kinds of app alerts on your wrist. If you have an iPhone, you can use the Versa Lite to accept or decline an incoming phone call, but you'll have to talk on the iPhone itself.
Use quick replies to send customized responses to text messages and messages from certain apps with Fitbit Charge 3, Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Sense, or Fitbit Versa series. This feature is currently available on devices paired to an Android phone.
Fitness aptitudeElsewhere, the Fitbit Versa Lite is just as capable as the Versa. You get the same four-day battery life, connected GPS, customizable exercise modes, and heart-rate monitoring, as well sleep, female health, and automatic activity tracking.
Fitbit's second-generation smartwatch: the Versa 2, sports a lighter, sleeker design than the Versa Lite and has a ton of cool new features like a built-in mic and Amazon Alexa. It also has a faster processor, an AWOLED screen, Fitbit Pay, and a 5+ day battery life.
The Versa is less expensive, first off. It works with Android phones as well as iPhones. And its feature list is uncannily close to the Apple Watch's; it even has a “Relax” app that's similar to the Apple Watch's “Breathe” app. Fitbit also doesn't share data to Apple Health, another drawback for iPhone users.
Ultimately, the biggest differences between the Fitbit Versa and the Fitbit Versa Lite are that the former supports contactless payments and music, but costs a bit more. There are other differences, covering features, battery life and design, all of which we've highlighted above, but they're mostly minor.
Note that you can't store music on Fitbit Versa Lite Edition. Make sure you have Bluetooth headphones or a speaker paired to your device. For instructions, see How do I connect Bluetooth audio devices to my Fitbit watch? Swipe down from the top of your screen.

Unfortunately, Apple Watch, Fitbit, and other activity monitors do not capture corresponding steps for biking. This is because activity monitors such as Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin and Xiaomi Mi Band count steps based on the arm movement. Your arm is mostly stationary while riding a bike.
With the new feature, cyclists can take advantage of all the sensors packed into the Surge, with metrics specific to riding a bike. As they're biking, users can see their distance, duration, average speed, heart rate and calories burned.

America's walking states said If you pedal constantly, the number of steps a pedometer records in bicycle riding will be lower than the number of steps that you cover during walking. It means you are expending less energy during a bicycle ride as compared to walking.
The biggest difference is the weight of the flywheel and how it operates. Spin bikes typically have a heavier flywheel than regular stationary bikes and it's connected directly to the pedals with a chain, similar to how a regular bicycle is designed.
The Fitbit Charge 3 is great for cycling and so much more. With its built-in exercises modes, SmartTrack exercise detection, and heart monitor, the Fitbit Charge 3 is the perfect fitness tracker companion for cycling, whether it's on the trail or in a spin class.
