The OneNote desktop app (previously called OneNote 2016) is now installed by default alongside Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for Microsoft 365 subscriptions that include the client apps and Office 2019.

Can I use Microsoft OneNote offline? You can! You'll need to sync your notebook with OneDrive before going offline, then OneNote automatically syncs your changes as you work. If at any time you lose your Internet connection or turn it off, any pending changes will sync as soon as you're back online.
Tip: Uninstalling Office only removes the Office applications from your computer, it doesn't remove any files, documents, or workbooks you created using the apps.
While OneNote is great for all users, you might need to use OneNote 2016 if you rely on any of these features: Certain Office integration features, including embedded Excel spreadsheets and Outlook tasks. Categorize notes with custom tags and quickly find them later.
