Personal fiefs can be obtained by capturing a town or castle while not a vassal of any lord. This can be difficult as defenders of towns and castles are generally hundreds strong and if you are not a member of a faction, you will not have any allies to help you.
Under the feudal system, a fief was a piece of land. This is short for fiefdom. Words that go along with fief are vassal and feudal lord; the lord (kind of like our landlords) owned the fief and the vassal was subject to all of his rules.
Sometimes you can gain infinite right to rule through a glitch by going to the leader of a faction you are at war with and asking to make peace. If he agrees and says something about a truce, you will gain right to rule, but at the next dialogue option you can choose the second option then repeat first step.
Fiefs are the villages, towns, and castles scattered about the map. Each fief is owned by a vassal or, in the case of the capital city of a faction, the ruler of that faction. Instead, villages are associated with a nearby castle or town and when the castle or town is captured, so is the village.
There are other ways for a faction to capture a castle in Warband other than just besieging it. They can also wait for the food supply of the castle/town to run out, and then take control, or if a lord holding a castle/town defects without being indicted, it will go to the new faction defected to.
Battle size can be changed by editing the rgl_config. txt file within "Documents/Mount&Blade Warband". Find this line "battle_size =" inside and change the number to whatever you wish to have. IIRC 1.0 = 150 troops.
A great way to increase morale is to store a nice portion of your troops away. Take your best men, such as Swadian Knights and your heroes (your party should have no more than 10) and attack a group of bandits or Sea Raiders 30-40.
In Warband, alternative way to bring up cheatmenu, since that tilde key doesn't work on every computer, is to go to "mount and blade warbandmodules ative" and open "menus" -txt.
You'll have to click on "Allow Cheats" in the Config menu first.

- Winning Tournaments.
- Completing Quests.
- Holding successful Feasts (Warband only).
- As a female character, countering remarks from lords.

Honor acts like karma in Calradia; virtuous deeds increase your honor whilst unethical deeds decrease it, resulting in correspondingly positive or negative consequences. Your character's honor starts at 0, and can range from -99 to +99 (except in Warband where the range is greater).
Send your companions on missions. When a faction ties a truce with the faction you're in you gain right to rule.
The name changes depending on the mod: strategist, constable, whatever. In Native, though, the emissary is for parleying with kings and tempting enemy vassals into turning their coats. You use a companion, and his Persuasion is what matter.
