Back up contacts
- On the Home screen, tap Settings.
- Tap your Apple ID at the top of the list.
- If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID.
- Tap iCloud.
- Tap Contacts to switch the slider ON.
- If prompted, select to Merge contacts with iCloud.
- Tap the iCloud Backup app at the bottom of the list.
iPhone contacts name missing may be caused by a syncing issue of contacts between iPhone and iCloud. So, if you didn't find the above method of assistance, try to disable contacts on iCloud and enable it again.
Go to: More > Settings > Contacts to Display. Your settings should be set to All contacts or use Customized list and turn on all the options to enable more contacts to be visible from within the app.
Sometimes duplicate iPhone contacts occur due to iCloud errors or erroneous syncing between email accounts and calendars.
The first method is through iCloud, assuming you sync your iOS device with Apple's cloud service in the first place. Log into the iCloud website, then click on Contacts. Select the contacts you want to delete, holding down the Control button to select more than one at a time.
How to sync contacts from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- At the top of the Settings menu, tap on your name and Apple ID.
- In the Apple ID menu, tap "iCloud."
- Under "Apps using iCloud," toggle the "Contacts" switch to the on position.
Import contacts from your SIM card to your iPhone
- Put your previous SIM card that has your contacts into your iPhone. Make sure that the SIM card fits.
- Tap Settings > Contacts > Import SIM Contacts.
- If asked, choose where you want to import your SIM card contacts.
- Wait for the import to complete.
- Open Contacts and make sure that your contacts imported.
If your
contacts' numbers are shown instead of their names, you might need to reset the
WhatsApp sync with your
contacts.
To do so:
- Open your phone's Settings, then tap Users & accounts > WhatsApp.
- Tap REMOVE ACCOUNT > REMOVE ACCOUNT.
- Open WhatsApp, then tap the new chat icon > More options > Refresh.
I don't know if it's the same on all Android phones, but on Samsung phones you can open the Contacts app., tap on a contact, then choose “Edit”. At the very top of the contact on the “Edit” screen, it will show you if the contact is in your device memory, SIM card, or to which Google account it's linked.
Android Internal StorageIf contacts are saved in the internal storage of your Android phone, they will be stored specifically in the directory of /data/data/com. Android. providers. contacts/databases/contacts.
Import contacts stored on a SIM card
- Put your previous SIM card that has your contacts into your iPhone.
- Tap Settings > Contacts > Import SIM Contacts.
- If asked, choose where you want to import your SIM card contacts.
- Wait for the import to complete.
- Open Contacts and make sure that your contacts imported.
Restore contacts from backups
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- Tap Google.
- Under 'Services', tap Restore contacts.
- If you have multiple Google Accounts, to choose which account's contacts to restore, tap From account.
- Tap the phone with the contacts to copy.
When trying to backup your Android smartphone data, if all the backup options are stuck and displaying a 'Waiting to back up' message, you should check that your phone's internet connection. If you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, check that the network isn't showing limited connectivity.
Restore contacts from backups

Move a contact
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Contacts app .
- Select a contact.
- At the top right, tap Menu Move to another account.
- Choose the Google Account you want to move the contact to.
The most common cause of losing your contacts is from upgrading your mobile's operating system. Whether your phone runs on iOS, Android or Nokia's Symbian, the manufacturer will send out intermittent software updates to refresh the phone with the latest features.

How to Transfer Contacts to a New Android Phone
- Android gives you a few options for transferring your contacts to a new device.
- Tap your Google account.
- Tap “Account Sync.”
- Ensure that the “Contacts” toggle is enabled.
- That's it!
- Tap “Settings” on the menu.
- Tap the “Export” option on the Settings screen.
- Tap “Allow” on the permission prompt.
To do that, go to Settings > Accounts > Google and then enable “Sync Contacts”. On the destination device, add the same Google account and then go to Settings > Account >Google and then select “Contacts” from the Google Backups list. Tap on “Sync Now” and the contacts will be transferred to the destination device.
