The Earth Kingdom finally fell five years later, after a time of hard fighting that saw the loss of Omashu, the last stronghold in the west. After Avatar Aang had forcefully ended the Conspiracy of Ba Sing Se, Earth King Kuei's power was briefly restored and Long Feng imprisoned.
Those who have seen the first season know that Mako eventually develops a romantic relationship with Asami while Korra pines over him. The creators decided to break up Mako and Asami, and have Korra and Mako (whose ship name is "Makorra") end up together at the end of season 1.
Some years after the Hundred Year War, Kuei had a daughter, Hou-Ting, who later succeeded him as ruler of the Earth Kingdom.
Though Wu was not a Bender himself, with the aid of his troop of Badger Moles, Wu was able to dig bunkers to hide civilians, divert tanks and protect his friends.
Hou-Ting was born to Earth King Kuei following the Hundred Year War and eventually succeeded him as earth monarch. However, she was critical of her father's decision to cede Earth Kingdom land to form the United Republic of Nations.
King Bumi is the king of Omashu. Despite his age and his apparent frailty, Bumi is an Earthbending master, himself claiming at one point to be "the most powerful Earthbender you'll ever see".
The population of the Earth Kingdom is among small villages, larger towns, and the capital city of Ba Sing Se, which contains a significant portion of its citizens. Tiny villages of ten or so inhabitants dot the landscape; larger towns, such as Chin and Gaoling, are found more infrequently.
Kyoshi was the Earth Kingdom-born Avatar immediately succeeding Avatar Kuruk of the Northern Water Tribe, and preceding Avatar Roku of the Fire Nation. She was also not recognized as Avatar until she was sixteen; instead, her friend Yun was declared the Avatar.
As we've seen, the Earth Kingdom has been a corrupt and fearful country for a while now. Since the Kyoshi era, there has been multiple conspiracies and imprisonments in it's history. From brainwashing it's own citizens to kidnapping Airbenders and training them for their own army.

This left their defeat of the Southern Water Tribe incomplete, and their campaign against the Earth Kingdom a game of whack-a-mole. Even then the Earth Kingdom ultimately failed, as Azula's coup against Ba Sing Se brought down the capital after Omashu and many other major regions were already conquered.
Earth Kingdom. The architecture, clothing, and culture of the Earth Kingdom seem to be based primarily on China and its neighboring states. The many tribes and towns throughout the Earth Kingdom can also resemble other cultures.
The Fire Nation is one of the world's four nations and five sovereign states. It is an absolute monarchy led by the Fire Lord and home to most firebenders.
Zaheer is one of the few known villainous airbenders. The other one is Jesa, a renegade Air Nomad who became a crime boss, and later mother to Avatar Kyoshi.
When the Dai Li were brainwashing Jet, they used a dimly lit lantern that slowly traveled on a circular rail around the agent brainwashing him while stone cuffs prevented him from moving his arms, legs, or head. The agent repeated phrases to assure Jet he was safe, and that there was no war within the walls.
Beneath them are minor monarchs like King Bumi who hail from a long tradition of power, masters of their domain but still ultimately loyal to the Earth King.
After Kuei's death, Bosco was eaten by the king's daughter, Earth Queen Hou-Ting, with rumors of his demise spreading across the Earth Kingdom.
King Bumi was born in 12 BG in the city of Omashu. As a child, he became close friends with Aang, showing him how to use the Omashu delivery system as "the world's greatest super slide", which caused the young airbender to label Bumi as a "mad genius". Sometime later in his life, Bumi was crowned King of Omashu.
