Only 1,100 Black Lotus alpha-deck cards were ever printed. The same card sold for $27,302 on eBay last year. Currently an ultrarare beta-deck Black Lotus is up on the auction site with an asking price of $100,000.
The "Black Lotus" card can be played at zero cost, and grants three mana (the game's primary resource) when sacrificed (discarded from play). Thus, the card gives the player an enormous jump in the early stages of a Magic game. The Black Lotus illustration is a depiction of a black lotus flower over a foliage backdrop.

Core sets (stylized as Core Set) form the base set of cards for tournament play and rotations. After Limited Edition in 1993, all core sets through Tenth Edition consisted solely of reprinted cards. As of Magic 2010, they feature new cards alongside reprints.
The most telling difference between the two however is the inside border for Unlimited cards are double beveled while the inside border for Revised cards are only single beveled. Without having a known card for comparison, the inner border is the easiest way to tell if a white bordered card is Unlimited or Revised.
There's a new Magic The Gathering (MTG) cart set in the world this week called Theros Beyond Death, and it's got 250 new cards. This event will allow users to choose between two pre-made decks, based on Elspeth or Ashiok.

Throne of Eldraine (on paper, anyhow) looks like it's going to be one heck of a set. Overall, the set is quite strong both in terms of flavor and gameplay. The set has a good collection of rather nice singles across all levels of rarity that will most definitely see play.

Previously, under the "Planeswalker uniqueness rule", players were only allowed to have one Planeswalker of each type on the battlefield at any one time. So even if you had both Jaces in the same deck, you would not be allowed to have both in play on the battlefield at the same time.

You still won't be able to use them for your commanders because they won't be Legendary Creatures. Sheldon of the Commander Rules Committee has said there aren't plans to allow all planeswalkers (posted 28 August 2017, in response to an inquiry about planeswalkers becoming legendary):
A Standard card is a card printed or reprinted into a set currently in Standard. A Standard deck contains only Standard cards (60+ of them), can optionally have a sideboard of up to 15 more Standard cards, and apart from basic lands does not have more than four copies of any one card .
There is about a 1 out of 8 chance per booster pack to get a mythic rare instead of a rare. The reason is when printing, usually 15 out of 121 cards on a sheet are mythic rare instead of rare, giving us the 1/8 approximation.

Magic the Gathering is actually one of the easiest TCG to get in. Give a lot of lands (you need them for basically anything) and quite a lot of cards of each color and some of each dual color. The power level isn't especially high, but it also contain boosters. All in all, a very fine way to start a collection.
