Herrington Lake is the deepest lake in Kentucky. It is about 35 miles long, up to 1,200 ft. wide, and covers 2335 acres with 325 miles of shoreline. The deepest area is near Dix Dam where the water depth reaches 249 feet.
Nolin Lake is a man-made reservoir lake known for its unique blue/green water, nestled in South Central Kentucky's rolling hills and touching the counties of Edmonson, Hart and Grayson. The dam creating the lake is located on the Nolin River near Bee Spring, which is 20 miles south of Leitchfield.
Nolin Lake State Park opened to the public in 1996. The 5,795-acre lake created from the impoundment of the Nolin River in 1963 and the 333-acre park are located along the northern edge of Mammoth Cave National Park in Edmonson County.
Swimming, wading, snorkeling or scuba diving at one's own risk is permitted, except at boat launching sites, designated mooring points and public docks, or other areas so designated by the District Commander. There are no developed swim beaches at Taylorsville Lake.
There are several developed beaches for visitors to enjoy at Green River Lake. Public use beach locations include the day use areas at Holmes Bend and Smith Ridge recreation areas. The Green River Lake State Park also has a public use beach, located adjacent to the campground.

Green River Lake supports three species of black bass, muskellunge, walleye, channel catfish, crappie, white bass and sunfish (bluegill).

Zero Rumsey is equal to 1318.257 feet above mean sea level. A full lake, by definition, is reached when the lake measures 7.56 feet on the Rumsey Gage. The level of Clear Lake is controlled by Cache Creek Dam which was constructed on Cache Creek in 1914.

What is the Rumsey Scale? In 1872, a poineer named Captain Rumsey established the low point of the Gribsby Riffle sill — a rockledge locaed at the confluence of Cache and Siegler Creeks in Lower Lake — as “Zero Rumsey.” All subsequent lake measurements are based on this elevation.
