Tape Accuracy
one tape measure is not necessarily as accurate as another. Whilst your average 'bargain basement' tape will be unclassified (i.e. its accuracy cannot be traced to any known standard), most professional tapes are Class 2. Others are Class 1 - the highest level of accuracy available.These are adequate for the majority of users and a Class II tape allows for a potential error of ±2.3mm over a 10m length. Calibration Procedure
Check the push and pull measurements of your tape measure (they should remain the same) with a tape measure calibrator. Place the tape end tab in the calibration slot and check the measurements printed on the tape against the lines laser engraved into the tape measure calibration tool.Parallax Error. The error/displacement caused in in the apparent position of the object due to the viewing angle that is other than the angle that is perpendicular to the object.
While braless or wearing a non-padded bra, use a measuring tape to measure around your torso directly under your bust, where a bra band would sit. The tape should be level and very snug. Round to the nearest whole number. If the number is even, add four inches.
Place the measuring tape over your finger and pull it around into a circle. Adjust the size of the circle, move it across your knuckles, and make sure it fits comfortably. Take note of the measurements in millimeters and use the comparison chart or measurement guide PDF to find your ring size.
Count the number of spaces between an inch mark and a 1/4-inch mark. If there are four spaces, the tape measure is marked in 1/16 inches. If there are eight spaces, it's marked in 1/32 inches.
