Pursuant to its ultimate aim of transitioning security responsibilities to Afghan forces, ISAF ceased combat operations and was disbanded in December 2014. A number of troops remained to serve a supporting and advisory role as part of its successor organization, the Resolute Support Mission.

As of June 2020, Germany contributed 1,300 troops to the NATO resolute supporting mission in Afghanistan. The Afghan security forces includes 180.9 thousand personnel of the Ministry of defense as well as 112.4 thousand from the Ministry of Interior.

The Public Health Service Commissioned Officer Association Medal is an award of the Department of Health and Human Services that recognizes any officer who is a member of the Commissioned Officer Association (COA). There is no full sized medal for this award, only a miniature medal and a service ribbon.
