Apparently this product (the MK7 form of vitamin K2) can cause heart palpitations in susceptible people, so I cannot take this. Probably would be fine for those with stong hearts.
On a per serving basis, this supplement is on the pricier side.

Vitamin K is believed to help by preventing calcium from being deposited in your arteries ( 10 ). In one study spanning 7–10 years, people with the highest intake of vitamin K2 were 52% less likely to develop artery calcification and had a 57% lower risk of dying from heart disease ( 11 ).
One study showed that a single serving of natto rich in vitamin K2 altered measures of blood clotting for up to four days. This was a much larger effect than foods high in vitamin K1 ( 10 ).
“As per Q1, the D3 and K2 formulation has been growing steadily worldwide, based on the individual benefits of each vitamin in mediating calcium.” Vitamins D3 and K2 are both essential vitamins required throughout life.
The recommended adequate intake for vitamin K depends on age and gender. Women aged 19 years and over should consume 90 micrograms (mcg) a day, and men should have 120 mcg.
This optimal dose (45 mg/day) for the treatment of osteoporosis is about 150–180 times greater than the recommended daily dietary intake of vitamin K (250–300 μg) [8].
If you take vitamin K supplements, do not take too much as this might be harmful. Taking 1mg or less of vitamin K supplements a day is unlikely to cause any harm.

Both Vitamin K2 as MK-4 and MK-7 are nearly completely absorbed, with peak serum concentration at 2 hours for MK-4 and 4 hours for MK-7 after intake. However, MK-4 quickly disappears from the circulation, whereas MK-7 is capable of accumulating in the bloodstream (remaining in the body for approximately 72 hours).
VITAMIN K2 DEFICIENCY LINKED TO BLOOD PRESSURE, INCREASED PULSE WAVE VELOCITY: NEW STUDY - NattoPharma.
The current study shows that MK-4 has a poor bioavailability at a nutritional level dose, whereas MK-7 is well absorbed and detectable in the blood at nutritional levels. In a study from the Netherlands, they compared the absorption of 900 μg of vitamin K1, MK-4, and MK-9.
Natto is a Japanese dish made from fermented soybeans. It's high in many nutrients that promote good gut health and is the richest source of vitamin K2 available. A 100-gram serving contains 108 micrograms of vitamin K2, more than twice the recommended intake.
The present study would like to confirm that vitamin K2 supplementation induces a significant reduction in the degree of micro-calcification from carotid artery disease patients, when comparing to a placebo, after 3 months.
Clinically, vitamin K2 sustains the lumbar bone mineral density (BMD) and prevents osteoporotic fractures in patients with age-related osteoporosis, prevents vertebral fractures in patients with glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, increases the metacarpal BMD in the paralytic upper extremities of patients with
Menaquinones have unsaturated isoprenyl side chains and are designated as MK-4 through MK-13, based on the length of their side chain [1,2]. MK-4, MK-7, and MK-9 are the most well-studied menaquinones. Phylloquinone is present primarily in green leafy vegetables and is the main dietary form of vitamin K [3].
A single tablespoon of natto contains more than 150 micrograms of Vitamin K2 as MK-7 along with Bacillus subtilis probiotics, nattokinase enzyme in the natural context of a nutritious, protein-rich whole food.
The MK-4 form of vitamin K2 only exists in animal foods. The body can convert a little bit of K1 into MK-4, but not nearly enough to fully meet our needs. Therefore, savvy vegans turn to natto (fermented soy), which contains a bacterial form of vitamin K that our bodies can turn into MK-4 a little more easily.
The richest source of menaquinones known is natto, a popular Japanese breakfast food made from steamed and fermented soybeans. A serving (3.5 oz) of natto contains ≈1000 μg MK-7 and 84 μg MK-8. The menaquinone content of fermented cheeses is much higher than that of nonfermented cheeses.
Vitamin D3 supplements may be easier for your body to absorb than D2 supplements. If you're 65 or under, your doctor may recommend 600 IU (international units) of vitamin D3 daily. If you're older than 65, you may need 800 IU daily. For a severe deficiency, your doctor may suggest a higher dosage.
Vitamin K can decrease the blood-thinning effects of warfarin and will therefore lower the PT or INR value. This may increase the risk of clotting.
The effects of vitamin K toxicity can include jaundice in newborns, hemolytic anemia, and hyperbilirubinemia. Toxicity also blocks the effects of oral anticoagulants.
A clinical study has found that vitamin K2 is a safe and effective therapy for rheumatoid arthritis, reducing immune activity and relieving symptoms.
Vitamin K2 helps turn on processes outside of the liver, like in our bones or our blood vessels. In blood vessels, it activates a protein called Matrix Gla-protein (MGP) which removes calcium from the lining of blood vessels.
