The main purpose of PCF is to provide the underlying infrastructure and environments that organizations need to facilitate continuous delivery of software updates, manage the application life cycle and streamline the development, deployment, and scaling of web-based applications.
PCF is a cloud native platform for deploying next-generation apps. Based on open source technology, PCF enables enterprises to rapidly deliver new experiences to their customers. PCF can be deployed on-premises and on many cloud providers to give enterprises a hybrid and multi-cloud platform.
The Cisco Policy Control Function (PCF) is one of the control plane network functions (NF) of the 5G core network (5GC). Provide policy rules for control plane functions, which include network slicing, roaming, and mobility management.
PCF Dev - PCF Dev is a slimmed down version of PCF that you can run on your local machine in a VM. It has features targeted towards developers that want to work locally or possibly offline. It does not have all of the features of PCF. It is free as in beer, but there are commercial components mixed in.
PCF Tutorial Dynamics 365 : PCF (PowerApps component framework) empowers professional developers and app makers to create code components for model-driven apps and canvas apps (experimental preview) to provide an enhanced user experience for the users to view and work with data in forms, views, and dashboards.
PCF Dev is a new distribution of Cloud Foundry designed to run on a developer's laptop or workstation. PCF Dev gives application developers the full Cloud Foundry experience in a lightweight, easy to install package.
Cloud Foundry is an open source cloud platform as a service (PaaS) on which developers can build, deploy, run and scale applications.
Freight rates are based on a number of factors including, PCF (Pounds Per Cubic Foot). Other factors such as how much of a truck your freight occupies, the ease of handling and value may affect your actual shipping rate.
Recently CloudFoundry announced that they are replacing their container orchestration engine Diego with Kubernetes. This brings an end to the CloudFoundry Project as a standalone platform and the remnants from the project will remain for sometime supporting existing customers.
It uses a container solution called garden. The original container in earlier versions of PCF was called warden, which actually predates docker itself. Cloud foundry itself actually predates Kubernetes. The first release was in 2011, while kubernetes is available since 2014.
For its part, VMware said in a separate release that the deal will allow it “increased freedom to execute its strategy, a simplified capital structure and governance model and additional strategic, operational and financial flexibility, while maintaining the strength of the two companies' strategic partnership.”
The Pivotal acquisition serves VMware's purpose to deliver “consumable, enterprise-ready cloud native offerings to customers to help them achieve better business outcomes,” said Ray O'Farrell, head of the new VMware Modern Application Platform business unit.
Most revenue comes from subscriptionsIn fiscal 2016, just 34% of total revenue came from subscriptions, with the rest coming from services. In fiscal 2018, subscriptions accounted for 51% of total revenue. Pivotal expects subscription revenue to grow as a percentage of total revenue from here.
Kubernetes is an open-source container orchestration platform that enables the operation of an elastic web server framework for cloud applications. Kubernetes can support data center outsourcing to public cloud service providers or can be used for web hosting at scale.

Kubernetes is not a traditional, all-inclusive PaaS (Platform as a Service) system. Kubernetes aims to support an extremely diverse variety of workloads, including stateless, stateful, and data-processing workloads. If an application can run in a container, it should run great on Kubernetes.
Cloud Foundry is built for developers by developers at the largest technology companies in the world, including IBM, SAP, SUSE, and VMware. The Cloud Foundry Foundation is part of the Linux Foundation, ensuring ongoing collaboration across project communities.
To store large binary files, such as droplets, Cloud Foundry maintains an internal Blob Store. To store and share temporary information, such as internal component states, CF uses the distributed value-store systems Consul and etcd.
Cloud Foundry distributes app source code to VMs, including the OS stack on which the app runs, and a buildpack containing all libraries, languages, and services that the app uses. Cloud Controller stages an app for delivery by combining stack, buildpack, and source code into a droplet before sending it to a VM.
The IBM Cloud Foundry platform is not just about creating new apps or migrating existing ones, on-prem or off-prem implementations, or offering IaaS and PaaS cloud services. It's designed to bring all of these aspects together to help you solve your real, complex business problems in the cloud.
This topic describes Garden, the component that Cloud Foundry (CF) uses to create and manage isolated environments called containers. Each instance of an app deployed to CF runs within a container. For more information about how containers work, see Container Mechanics in Container Security.
Cloud Foundry offers a marketplace of services, from which users can provision reserved resources on-demand. Examples of resources services provide include databases on a shared or dedicated server, or accounts on a SaaS app. Think of a service as a factory that delivers service instances.
