To view and print the notice of assessment:
- Login to your myGov account and select ATO.
- Click Tax, Lodgments, Income Tax, then the History tab.
- Find the year you are after and select the drop down arrow next to that year.
- Click 'View copy of notice of assessment', and open the PDF.
Whether you filed your taxes with help at H&R Block, used an accountant or did them yourself online, you should always receive a Notice of Assessment (NOA) from the CRA. Mostly because it includes the amount of your refund, or if you happen to owe taxes, the amount you need to pay.
To get a transcript, people can:
- Order online. Use the 'Get Transcript ' tool available on IRS.gov. There is a link to it under the red TOOLS bar on the front page.
- Order by phone. The number to call is 800-908-9946.
- Order by mail. Complete and send either Form 4506-T or Form 4506T-EZ to the IRS to get one by mail.
There are three ways to get the Notice of Assessment: By regular mail, if you have not registered for online mail. Online via the CRA's My Account service, where you can view the status of your return and the Notice of Assessment when it is available.
The notice of assessment we send you is an itemised account of the amount of tax you owe on your taxable income. It also contains other details that are not part of the assessment, such as the amount of credit you have for tax already paid during the income year.
Your Notice of Assessment (NOA) is like a receipt for filing your tax return. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) sends you a Notice of Assessment when you file a tax return; it details the results of your assessment and is sent to you after your return has been processed.
ATO sends you a Notice of Assessment and pays your tax refund. You typically receive this within 2-3 weeks if there are no issues identified with the return, but it can take up to 30 days depending on ATO processing times.
A Notice of Assessment is not issued for Companies. A Notice of Assessment is not issued for Companies. Your Tax Agent can provide a Payment Slip and a copy of your Income Tax Account. Otherwise give the ATO a call.

If you are auto-assessed, you will be notified per SMS in August – so there will be no need for you to call us or visit a branch. The SMS will direct you to eFiling or the SARS MobiApp to either “Accept” or “Edit” the return.
Yes, you can see both on eFiling. The refund amount (if any) and refund payment date can be seen on the 'Income Tax Statement of Account' (ITSA) and the payment date for the amount owed by you to SARS, can be seen on the 'Notice of Assessment' (ITA34).
If you are selected for verification, you will be notified by SARS through an official letter. This letter will indicate that you must within 21 business days submit either: The requested relevant material (supporting documents) / IT14SD (applies only to Company Income Tax); or. A Request For Correction (RFC).
Call the SARS Contact Centre on 0800 00 7277 and query the status of your refund.
SARS has changed things up a bit this year and advised that they have 7 business days in which to pay out a refund. Taxpayers have been known to receive their refunds within 2-3 days however, let's hold thumbs! When you have an expense claim, you need to have documented proof of all these expenses .
SARS will also email or SMS you telling you that an IT34 (Summary of your return and refund) and ITSA (Income Tax Statement of Account) have been issued. They will detail your tax refund (tax back) if any. So look forward to that deposit into your account.
The EMP201 is a payment declaration in which the employer declares the total payment together with the allocations for PAYE, SDL, UIF and/or ETI. A unique Payment reference number (PRN) will be pre-populated on the EMP201, and will be used to link the actual payment with the relevant EMP201 payment declaration.
