Intune MAM allows users within any given organisation to access corporate data from their personal mobile devices (iOS, Android, Windows etc.) On an organisational level, Intune MAM allows admins to control how data is protected within the applications installed on that mobile device.
Simply put, the main difference between MDM and EMM is that MDM manages all the features of the device while EMM manages the entire device. EMM provides policy compliance, app customization, data and document security and incorporates into the network directory services.

As of now, Intune does not provide the same management capabilities as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). Yet, some organizations are looking to replace SCCM in favor of Intune's simplified, cloud-based architecture.

You may also hear that SCCM is dying and that Intune is your only path in the near future to manage your company devices. The good news is that SCCM is not dead, in fact, it's been rolling out new features quarterly in the past 3 years thanks to the new servicing model and the product group is not slowing down.
SCCM is dead
More and more work happens on non-Windows devices and outside of Windows apps, but SCCM is still just focused on Windows. Managing Windows is just a small part of the diverse world of end user computing. It just makes sense to move to modern, cloud-based unified endpoint management.No need for Windows updates as I have my primary SCCM server doing that (with WSUS on that server). If you are just looking to expand an existing SCCM install to manage a larger number of clients/sites then this can be initiated from inside the SCCM console where you can push out new DP's or MP's to other servers.
