Indirect Goods. Direct goods and services are purchases that are directly related to the production of the particular good or service that is being offered. Often, companies look deep into ways to cut the cost of production by finding a cheaper source of direct goods such as raw materials or services.
There are mainly four types of procurement these are:
- Stock procurement.
- Single procurement.
- Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
- Just in time procurement.
- Just in sequence procurement.
Indirect procurement is the sourcing of all goods and services for a business to enable it to maintain and develop its operations. Indirect Procurement categories include, but are not limited to: Marketing-related services (media buying, agencies) Professional Services (consultants, advisers)

Direct material are those material which are easily identified, conveniently measured and directly charged to the cost of production. Indirect Material are those materials which cannot be conveniently identified & allocated to the cost centre or cost unit. It does also not form part of the finished product.
Indirect PO - is for consumables, generally where you don't have a material code in tyour system e.g. costs charged to Cost Centre or similar object on receipt of goods/service.
