Basic – Air Canada's most restrictive fare option, available only for select routes and flights and for booking exclusively through Air Canada channels. Basic Economy fares do not permit changes, are not eligible for upgrades, and do not earn Aeroplan Miles.
All Economy fare types provide customers with Air Canada's award-winning service, complimentary carry-on baggage, free inflight entertainment, and the option to purchase onboard Wi-Fi access where available.
All Air Canada International flights offer free meals, hot meals are typically served after take-off, while the second meal service will be a lighter option. Wines, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages are also included.
Flex Fares include your first checked bag free on all domestic flights. Free Seat selection is also included with the Flex Fare option compared with having to pay for seat selection when booking Tango. With a Flex fare you will accrue 100% of your Aeroplan points compared with 25% on tango fares.
Both Air Canada and WestJet told Marketplace that passengers can select their seat for free within 24 hours of departure, and the option to select a seat further in advance is up to the customer. Air Canada also told the show that the fee only applies to the lowest-price fares in North America.

“T” is an economy seat that has been discounted, “J” is a business class seat that is full price, and “D” is a business class seat that has been discounted.
Some Economy tickets (fare classes Y, B, M, H or S) on a Turkish Airlines-operated flight earn you 100 percent of the United award mileage. But an economy ticket in fare class E or Q is a discount code that earns you 75 percent. Alas, that's better than a W, G or P fare class, where you receive no mileage.
