How to Find All IP Addresses on a Network
- Open the command prompt.
- Enter the command “ipconfig” for Mac or “ifconfig” on Linux.
- Next, input the command “arp -a”.
- Optional: Input the command “ping -t”.
How to Constantly Ping in a CMD Prompt
- Open the Windows Run box by pressing the Windows key and the letter R.
- Type CMD and press enter to open the command prompt.
- Type "ping " followed by the IP address to ping.
- Type "-t" after the IP address to run the ping continuously or " -n x", replacing x with the desired number of packets to be sent.
Following are the instructions to connect to your Gateway router's interface for configuration and diagnotstics.
- Make sure you are connected to your Gateway router.
- Open your web browser and navigate to 192.168.
- Enter the username and password for your Gateway router.
Internet connection speedIn addition to the various factors that comprise the quality of your ISP, your internet connection speeds can affect your ping (or latency). Conversely, a slower connection speed can result in high ping, which in turn makes lag more noticeable when playing games online.
Pinging With AndroidWhile the vast majority of Android phones have no Ping menu button or link, the operating system does support the command. If you have a rooted Android phone, you can open a terminal window and enter the "ping somesite.com" command, just as you would with a desktop computer.
In Windows, hit Windows+R. In the Run window, type “cmd” into the search box, and then hit Enter. At the prompt, type “ping” along with the URL or IP address you want to ping, and then hit Enter. In the image below, we're pinging and getting a normal response.
- Click "Start," type "command" into the search field and then choose "Command Prompt" from under Programs.
- Type "ping [x]" (without quotation marks) into Command Prompt. Replace "[x]" with the IP address or host name of the target computer.
- Press "Enter" to ping the remote computer.
How to Find Default Gateway IP Address on Android? Tap Settings. Tap Wi-Fi. Find your gateway IP address listed next to Gateway.
Ping transmit failed general failure is a sign that you're experiencing physical problems with the NIC in the computer or an issue with the driver. Always update drivers to prevent these errors.
Potential SymptomsAble to connect to the display on the local network but cannot connect to the display via public IP address. Unable to connect via public IP address or on local network but can via direct connect using laptop.
how to fix destination host unreachable?
- Try to disable Firewall and check for the issue.
- Perform a tracert to the destination IP address and check where the problem occuring.
- Make sure that local host is configured correctly.
If you try to ping your router from a computer on the Local Area Network (LAN) and you get a response – destination host unreachable, this means that your computer is not getting an IP address from the router. You can then investigate the IP address settings on the device and verify the connections.
There are many possible reasons for getting a “destination host unreachable” error, including things as simple as erroneously connected cables or an overly aggressive firewall.
Request timed out means that the local host did not receive a response from the destination host, but it was able to reach it. Destination host unreachable means that there was no valid route to the requested host.
Here's how to check your home internet speed:
- Connect to your computer to your router using an Ethernet cable.
- Open your web browser.
- Navigate to
- Tap “Go.”
Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and you are connected.
- Open your Settings app "Wireless and Networks" or "Connections"
- Turn Wi-Fi on.
- Find the Wi-Fi connection indicator at the top of your screen .
- If this is not displayed, or none of the bars are filled in, you may be out of range of a Wi-Fi network.
- Tip #1: Use Ethernet Instead of WiFi. Switching to Ethernet is an easy first step towards lowering your ping.
- Tip #2: Whitelist Your Games for Antivirus and Firewall.
- Tip #3: Close Background Programs.
- Tip #4: Optimize Game Settings.
- Tip #5: Remove Other Devices from Your Network.
- Tip #6: Lower Your Ping with Haste.
For example, to ping the League of Legends servers, open command prompt (go to Run and type cmd.exe) and run a ping command to the corresponding server you want to check: For NA, type: ping 104.160. 131.3 -t. For EUW, type: ping 104.160.
"Ping" sends a small packet of data to your Android device and asks for a response.
- Press the "Menu" button on the Android device.
- Tap "About Phone" or "About Tablet."
- Tap "Status." The Android device's Internet Protocol address is listed.
- Click the Windows orb on the computer.
In most cases, a "Request Timed Out" message is caused by a firewall blocking the connectivity. Before you can ping, you'll need to ensure that the target machine has a green status indicator. If this is not the case, search our knowledge base for the color indicator you see (i.e., yellow, cyan, etc).
1.LAN Speed Test
- Create a 1 MB random test packet file in memory.
- Start the Write Timer.
- Write the file to the network folder you chose.
- Stop the Write Timer.
- Clear the Windows File Cache.
- Start the Read Timer.
- Read the file from the network folder.
- Stop the Read Timer.
A good internet speed is at or above 25 Mbps. These speeds will support most online activity, such as HD streaming, online gaming, web browsing and downloading music.
A gateway is a hardware device that acts as a "gate" between two networks. It may be a router, firewall, server, or other device that enables traffic to flow in and out of the network. For example, a proxy server may only allow local computers to access a list of authorized websites.
Gateways regulate traffic between two dissimilar networks, while routers regulate traffic between similar networks. Because TCP/IP is also the primary protocol of the Internet, you could use a router to connect your network to the Internet.
A default gateway is an IP address that is specified in a device to enable it to communicate with other devices that are not in the same network. Normally it is an address of the router interface that is connected to a network. The default gateway is always same as the IP address, the last byte or number is changed.
A gateway is a piece of networking hardware used in telecommunications for telecommunications networks that allows data to flow from one discrete network to another.
A wireless gateway routes packets from a wireless LAN to another network, wired or wireless WAN. It may be implemented as software or hardware or a combination of both. Wireless gateways combine the functions of a wireless access point, a router, and often provide firewall functions as well.
The gateway can really be any unique address within the subnet itself, but most network administrators designate the first number of the subnet as the gateway. Therefore, 192.168. 99.1 would be the default gateway of our source device given the fact that we have a 255.255.
A subnet mask is the mean through which the host understands whether a packet is for this LAN or another one. In the latter case the packet is sent to a (default) gateway. If an IP address outside this LAN is required, the MAC Address provided will be that of the gateway.
Use the IPCONFIG CommandType “ipconfig” at the prompt and press “Enter.” This command displays all network interfaces and their configurations, including IP addresses, subnet masks and default gateway. 0.3." Subnet masks have the same format, but are typically displayed as "255.255. 255.0" on a local area network.
Most Android devices
- Go to Settings.
- Under Wi-Fi, tap your current active Wi-Fi network.
- Tap Advanced. Your default gateway's IP address will appear under Gateway.
