Those planning on attending the funeral should adhere to a strict dress code; you should wear all black – men should don a long sleeved shirt, dress pants and dress shoes, whilst women should wear a dress that falls below the knee or skirt that extends below the knee with a blouse (not sleeveless or spaghetti strapped)
How are Buddhists buried? Buddhist funeral rites vary, but in general, there is a funeral service with an altar to the deceased person. Prayers and meditation may take place, and the body is cremated after the service. Sometimes the body is cremated after a wake, so the funeral is a cremation service.
Thai Buddhist funerals generally consist of a bathing ceremony shortly after death, daily chanting by Buddhist monks, and a cremation ceremony. Cremation is practised by most peoples throughout the country, with the major exceptions being ethnic Chinese, Muslims and Christians.
Since Buddha's death, many Buddhists have chosen cremation to free the soul from the body. Because they believe that several stages of life called bardos continue for hours or days after the body dies, cremation does not take place right away.
What Do Catholics Believe About Cremation? Catholics do not favor cremation because they believe in resurrection of the body after death. They follow the custom of burying the dead, as Jesus Christ was buried in a tomb. Nevertheless, the attitude of the Church has changed in the recent years.
It can occur before the cremation and even include the viewing of the body, just as with a traditional funeral. If it is afterward, the ashes are usually present at the ceremony and are sometimes scattered at that time.
Death is a return to earth. The universe is like an inn. The passing years are like dust. *Vairacchedika 32.
