That's about 4.5 psi more than the LT4 engine, but achieved with a slower, 15,860-rpm maximum rotor speed, which helps keep down the pressurized air charge's temperature.
As heart of the Corvette ZR1, the supercharged LT5 6.2L SC is the most powerful engine ever offered in a regular production Chevrolet. It features a more-efficient, more-compact 2.6L Eaton R2650 TVS supercharger. That's enough to generate more than 9 pounds of boost and help produce 755 horsepower and 715 lb. -ft.
The ChemistryWe didn't get to drive a ZR1 fitted with its $1725 eight-speed automatic transmission on the road, but clutch takeup on the standard seven-speed manual is progressive and impressively light in effort.

The 6.2-liter V8 Supercharged LSA is an engine that was produced by General Motors for use in high-performance vehicles. The LSA is part of GM's fourth-generation V8 Small Block engine family, though unlike its LS9 counterpart, it is not assembled by hand, and was instead made at GM's Silao facilities in Mexico.
The LT5 and LT4 use the same cylinder heads. The LT5 and LT4 use the same pistons. The LT5 has an AFM-less valley plate. The LT5 has different crank and connecting rods, likely for the added power.
All three Corvettes are spectacularly fast. The base model goes from zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and hits 100 mph in 9.0 seconds. The Z06 needs just 3.6 and 8.3 seconds for the same tasks, while the ZR1 hits 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and 100 mph in a stellar 7.6 seconds.
