For engines without turbocharger, the conversion cost is $7,000 - $10,000, including Omnitek Kit, Engine Modifications, and Labor. Gas tanks, engine overhaul parts and installation are extra. For engines with turbochargers, the conversion cost runs to $8,000 - $12,000.
They called it diesel fuel. My car can run on diesel (the fossil fuel variety), straight vegetable oil (SVO), and biodiesel (SVO that has been modified), or any combination of the three. That isn't unusual: anything with a diesel engine -- plane, boat, motorcycle -- can run on diesel, SVO or biodiesel.
Diesel engines can be made to run on natural gas with relatively small modifications (see “Swiss Researchers Make an 80-mpg Hybrid”). In a diesel engine, fuel and air are ignited not with a spark, as in gasoline engines, but by compressing them until they get hot enough to combust.
Put more simply, it will take any engine that runs on diesel, gasoline, propane, or CNG and switch it over to run on 100 percent hydrogen. (The company is currently in the process of getting its retrofit product certified by the California Air Resources Board as zero-emissions.)
Dual-fuel engine is the diesel engine that can run on both gaseous and liquid fuels. The DF technology enables the engine to be operated on either natural gas, light fuel oil or HFO. Switching between fuels can take place seamlessly during operation, without loss of power or speed.
Converting your car to LPG simply means adding a second fuel system with its own tank to your vehicle which is often fitted in place of the spare wheel or underneath the car.
Fuel is then channeled to the proper area in the carburetor so that the original carburetor can control the fuel mixture just the same as running on gasoline. This is the best way to convert your existing gasoline generator into a propane generator, natural gas generator or a tri-fuel generator.
Have an Old Petrol or Diesel Car? Convert it to Electric | The
- You can convert your petrol/diesel car to electric. [00:02]
- Just need an electric motor, a controller unit, and an ECU. [00:09]
- Altis Technology to offer conversion services next year. [00:16]
- Cost to convert to electric is 15% of new car value. [00:23]
- Approx price: Rs 2 lakh - Rs 2 lakh for small car. [00:30]
Putting Gasoline in Diesel Fuel
Let's say you accidentally drop a small amount of gasoline into your diesel fuel. This means the diesel fuel will prematurely ignite in the diesel engine, which can lead to engine damage. Gasoline contamination can also damage the fuel pump and mess up diesel injectors.LPG is a cleaner burning fuel than either diesel or petrol, so engine life is actually extended and LPG does not damage engines. If anything, LPG may prolong engine life. It produces less carbon overall when compared to either diesel or petrol.
If your car is not fuel efficient, then converting to LPG is certainly worth considering. If the initial outlay is making you hesitate, then consider that within two years it will have paid for itself if you cover around 15,000 miles each year.
On average heating oil prices are around 55p per litre at the time of writing (April 2019) while LPG is around 65p per litre. This equates to about oil costs of approximately 6p/kW and 6.5-7p/kW for LPG.
In most cases LPG car insurance will cost no more than the equivalent petrol or diesel model, and because you will be talking to knowledgeable car enthusiasts, you can rest assured that they will usually know exactly what you are talking about.
Autogas is the common name for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) when it is used as a fuel in internal combustion engines in vehicles as well as in stationary applications such as generators. It is a mixture of propane and butane.
Pure methanol cannot be used directly in unmodified diesel engines because it will require spark or ignition assistance or a fuel additive. However, use of diesel blended with up to 20% of methanol by volume requires only minor engine modifications (Lin & Chao, 2002).
While power gains are typically less in stock compression naturally aspirated vehicles compared to high compression or forced induction engines, the benefits of water-methanol injection can still be realized due to more timing advance, leaner air/fuel ratios, cleaner engine components, lower temperatures, and the use
The water-meth mixture is also not a complicated thing. You can choose to mix it yourself in different ratios, but the standard that works for most people is a simple 50/50 mixture of methanol fuel and distilled water.
Boost Juice®: This is the best fluid to use and is Snow Performance's 49% methanol, 51% water mixture that can be shipped to your door or picked up at a local dealer. (If you are using your washer reservoir as the injection tank, Boost Juice® is a great washer fluid – works as a de-icer!)

Methyl Hydrate has a low freeze point and is suitable for de-icing applications, but it is not an anti-freeze for diesel fuel. It should not be added to diesel fuel, or used as a fuel.
In a piston engine, the initial injection of water cools the fuel-air mixture significantly, which increases its density and hence the amount of mixture that enters the cylinder. The water (if in small liquid droplets) may absorb heat (and lower the pressure) as the charge is compressed, thus reducing compression work.
