Abby and Owen were a couple at one point, but the game implies they broke up after Abby became too consumed with avenging her father's death. Owen begins a relationship with Mel, who then gets pregnant, even though he constantly tells Abby he wants to be with her throughout the game.
Abby killed Joel because he killed her father. Who would be killed next if Ellie was to kill Abby? She realized that it was never going to end if she kept contributing to the cycle, so allowing Abby to escape was symbolic of her finally letting go.
One of the most shocking scenes from The Last of Us: Part 2 happened early in the game, when Abby killed Joel. Many players were likely expecting Joel to gain the advantage or for Tommy or Ellie to break free of the former Fireflies' grasp and save his life.
Abby does not die in The Last Of Us Part 2 because Ellie decides to show mercy thanks to an image of Joel with his guitar. This image is then elaborated on in a scene before Joel's death where Ellie says she'll try to forgive him for saving her at the cost of a vaccine for mankind.

Abby was pretty open about her experiences of her cancer and her treatments afterwards. She also revealed that the tumor had affected her spine, which affected her posture and ability to walk. Abby is now using a wheelchair to get around after successfully beating her cancer diagnosis.
approximately 20 years old
Does Lev Die? Lev is punished for trying to escape from imprisonment from the Rattlers with Abby, and the two are tied up outside left to die. When Ellie frees them, they are both extremely malnourished, and Lev seems barely even conscious. However, he is able to make it off of the island alive, together with Abby.
Much like how Abby's love for Owen is selfish, her love of Yara and Lev is as well. Abby doesn't change because she realizes it's her moral obligation to be a better person, she seeks relief in paying for her sins by saving these kids, and only shows restraint so as to not lose Lev.
Why did Ellie let Abby live? That final conversation with Joel indicates that Ellie chooses to forgive Abby for what she did and embrace those she loves, even if she's still haunted by how brutally Joel was executed. It's a poignant moment and a smart way to keep both characters alive for future games.
Ellie reappeared as the sole playable character in the downloadable content prequel, The
Last of Us: Left Behind, in which she spends time with her friend Riley.

You play as Ellie in The Last Of Us Part 2 for about 12-hours before switching over to Abby. It obviously depends on how slow and thorough you play while exploring The Last Of Us Part 2, but it's roughly the 12-hour mark where most gamers will stop playing as Ellie.
In the scene, Ellie's feelings toward Joel begin to soften when he accepts her as a gay woman. “You're such an a------,” she tells him, in a frustrated but loving tone. “She hated Joel so much for what he did [at the hospital], and yet was able to find a way to start forgiving him,” Druckmann says.
How to Beat Ellie
- Things to Look Out For. Fighting Ellie will be hard, especially since she is much faster than you.
- Use Listen Mode. You won't win by fighting her head on.
- Look for Bottles and Bricks. Throwing a Bottle or a Brick at Ellie will stun her for a few seconds making her vulnerable to your attacks.
- Watch Out for Traps.
How would Joel be infected from Ellie? So yes, she can infect others, but they will not turn because Ellie's mutated strain doesn't cause the ordinary symptoms.
