Passengers on local buses will be riding for free, as part of the MTA's effort to safeguard riders and bus drivers from the outbreak of coronavirus. Starting Monday, bus riders on local and Select Bus Service routes must enter and exit through rear doors. Officially, the $2.75 fare is in effect.
When riding the bus, make sure to board on the right side of the street (in the direction that you're headed). If in doubt, don't hesitate to ask the driver. 2. You need a TAP card: A one-way fare on Metro is $1.75 (transfers are free within two hours).
How to Buy a Pass
- From any Metro Customer Center or from one of 400 sales locations throughout LA. Also, view a map of sales outlets .

- On-board buses (Day Passes only).
- From TAP vending machines (TVMs) at Metro Rail stations.
Fares: Metro's base fare is $1.75. You can pay cash when you board, but you'll need exact fare as bus operators don't carry change. You can also buy and add up to $20 to a reusable TAP card. Reduced rates are available to seniors, students, and disabled riders.

- Metro Buses. The bus system offers 200 different lines that cross the entire city and beyond.
- Metro Rail. The railway system consists of two subway lines, four light-rail lines, and two express bus lines that connect to Downtown Los Angeles.

You can pay for both Metro Buses and DASH buses with either cash or TAP cards. You must have a TAP card to pay for and ride Metro Rail.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) today announced its public bus services will be free of charge for individuals permitted to leave their homes during the extended two-week sterilisation period. RTA said metro and tram services will be suspended during the sterilisation period.
How it Works

- Activate - When you are ready to ride, tap your ticket or pass to activate.
- Ride - As you board the bus, tap your phone to the Token Transit validator that is attached to the farebox.

For example, a TAP card with a Metro Day Pass is not accepted on any LADOT Commuter Express or DASH bus, and a LADOT Commuter Express pass is not valid on Metro. A TAP card cannot be used to pay another person's fare even if there is enough stored value (cash) on the card.
