Compress and Save Image
- Save your file as a JPEG.
- Compress the file between 60% and 80%. Use the photo view on the left do determine the percentage of compression. The higher the percentage the better the quality of the photo.
- Click Save.
Low-resolution images are saved at 72ppi (for web graphics), and high-resolution images are saved at 300ppi (for print graphics). By stretching the image larger, you're actually just enlarging the pixels themselves, making them more visible to the naked eye, therefore making your image looks pixelated.
How to Enlarge an Image to Print
- Double-click your file to open it in preview.
- In the menu bar, click on "Tools".
- Select "Adjust Size" in the "Tools" dropdown menu.
- Choose "inches" for Width and Height and "pixels/inch" for Resolution.
- Uncheck the “Resample Image” checkbox and set your Resolution to 300 pixels/inch.
How to Remove Censored Parts from a Photo
- Step 1: Load the image to Inpaint. Open Inpaint and click the Open button on the toolbar.
- Step 2: Mark the censored area using the marker tool. Inpaint lets you retouch the censored area and hide it from the picture by extrapolating surrounding pixels to the censored part of the image.
- Step 3: Run the retouching process.

- Once your picture is uploaded, adjust the pixel size by using the pixelation slider.

- Click Launch Pixlr E.

First, open the image in Photoshop and press CTRL + J to duplicate the background layer. Make sure to click on Layer 1 in the Layers panel. Next, go to Filter, then Other, and choose High Pass. The higher the value you set it to, the sharper your image will become.
- In the menu bar, select Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast.
- Adjust the Brightness slider to change the overall brightness of the image. Adjust the Contrast slider to increase or decrease image contrast.
- Click OK. The adjustments will appear only on the selected layer.
Without a photo's original negative, you can't simply reprint the image at a larger size. You can, however, create high-resolution enlargements from a hard copy photograph by scanning the image and printing an enlargement from the computer.
JPEG is a lossy format, Converting an image from other formats( e.g. PNG, BMP ) to JPEG format will cause quality loss. However, compressing an existing JPEG image with method F and G will not change quality, the transformation is lossless, making it easy to reduce image size without losing quality.
The Cool Trick for Turning Small Photos into Poster-Sized Prints
- Open the digital camera image you want to increase to poster size, even if its resolution is set at 72 ppi.
- Go under the Image menu, under Resize, and choose Image Size.
The most common side effect of scaling an image larger than its original dimensions is that the image may appear to be very fuzzy or pixelated. Scaling images smaller than the original dimensions does not affect quality as much, but can have other side effects.
