If you gain, say 25 and lose 15, you would have good MMR. But if you lose 25 and gain 15, your MMR would be bad. Around 20 LP gained is average iirc.
The first win you get will give you 1 LP or so you have 100LP you 2w/0l then you quit a match. Your MMR increased by 2 wins but you still have 100LP. The next match you win(after the promotion series) you'll gain ~28LP.

there is a normal elo rating but you can't see it, only riot can. once you hit 30 you can play ranked games and see your ranked rating after 10 games. If you want, you can open up the "invite players" (make a premade team, duo queue or w/e). You can see people's elo in the lobby before you hit "start game".
Division skipping happens when your mmr is much higher than your current rank, as people might already know. This is evident when you are gaining 25+ lp and losing much less. In order for you to skip division, for example, silver 5 to silver 3, you must go into s5 promos and come out winning with the mmr of a s3.

Dodge Queues
Dodging a queue will result in negative LP, starting with a 3 LP penalty and as you dodge multiple games you will continue to lose 10 LP per game. The main point, however, is that you don't lose your MMR if you dodge games. This will allow you to quickly gain LP after you start winning.If your MMR is approximately equal your league placement, you should be seeing similar LP gain/losses (Other then the tier clamping) per game. If your MMR is higher then your league placement, you should be seeing large win values, smaller loss values, as its trying to move you up.
MMR and your resulting rank are calculated exclusively via wins and losses. Kill-to-death ratio, match score, and moment-to-moment gameplay has no bearing on your rank. Keep in mind that assigned ranks are relative and determined by performance against other players in the match.
