Printers with built-in Bluetooth
- Turn on the Bluetooth radio on the printer.
- Open the Bluetooth settings on the computer or mobile device, and then confirm the feature is turned on.
- Select your printer from the list of found devices, or follow any steps to add the printer as a new device.
Make sure the printer is on or that it has power. Connect your printer to your computer or other device. Check the printer's toner and paper, plus the printer queue. In this case, reconnect your device to the network, reconfigure security settings to include printers, and/or install updated drivers.
Click the name of your printer, and then click Options & Supplies. Click Utility, and then click Open Printer Utility. In HP Utility, click Wireless Setup. Make sure your network displays in the Confirm Wireless Settings window, and then click Continue to complete the wireless configuration.
Display the TV's WPA key.
- Using the TV remote control, press the HOME button.
- Select Settings.
- Select Network in the NETWORK & ACCESSORIES category.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct.
- Select Wi-Fi Direct Settings.
- Select Show Network (SSID)/Password.
- The SSID and the WPA key will be displayed on the TV screen.
Wi-Fi Direct could be used to remotely connect to a wireless printer without requiring the printer to join an existing wireless network. Android also includes built-in support for Wi-Fi Direct, although few applications are using it just yet. Many devices are already using Wi-Fi with built-in Wi-Fi radios.
To disable Wi-Fi Direct Printing do the following:
- Open a browser and enter the URL IP of the printer.
- On the Network tab, Click Edit Settings.
- Under Wi-Fi Direct, change the status to Off then click Apply.
Why won't my printer recognize my router?
- Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer Control Panel simultaneously and hold them from about 5 seconds.
- This should reset the printer to network default.
How to connect a printer via wireless network
- Step 1: Locate your settings. Once turned on and ready for configuration, you'll need to connect the printer to your home WiFi.
- Step 2: Link your WiFi network.
- Step 3: Complete connectivity.
- Step 4: Locate your printer settings.
- Step 5: Connect the printer to the computer.
Get the Wi-Fi Direct printer name (Example: DIRECT-72-HP Officejet Pro 6970) and password. Printers with a control panel menu: Touch the Wi-Fi Direct icon to open the Wi-Fi Direct settings menu to get the name and password.
Turn on your computer's Wi-Fi. From your computer, search for and connect to the Wireless Direct name, such as HP-Print-**-Deskjet 3520. From your computer, configure the printer software to print over wireless direct. Select Connect New Printer.
Print with Wi-Fi Direct using HP Print Service Plugin (Android)
- On your mobile device, go to HP Print Service Plugin in the Google Store, and then make sure it is installed and up to date.
- Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
- Open the item you want to print, and then tap Print.
- Locate your printer cable.
- Make sure you buy the right cable.
- Plug one end of the cable into your printer.
- Plug the other end of the cable into your laptop.
- Install any software that came with the printer.
- Make sure your printer is plugged into a power source.
Though Wi-Fi printers are often grouped together with Bluetooth printers as "wireless" printers, the technologies behind these two printer types are not the same. Wi-Fi printers connect to a central wireless network, while Bluetooth printers connect directly to a computer or device through a Bluetooth signal.

Wi-Fi Direct is a wireless technology that allows two devices to establish a direct, peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection without requiring a wireless router. Ensure your Wi-Fi is enabled as you will need to turn this setting on to access your Wi-Fi Direct settings as well as share files wirelessly. 2 Tap Wi-Fi Direct.
On your Android phone, Navigate to Settings. Select the bottom right hand menu and tap Wi-Fi Direct. Your TV should appear in the list. Tap on the Smart TV listed and press Accept to connect to it.
Wi-Fi Direct has minimal security advantages compared to other options, but it has minimal security risks. It can be risky while simultaneously using a device connected to another network.
