If you cancel your IELTS test up to five weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee. To cancel your test date, please download and complete our Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form and send it via email to .
Who owns IELTS? Both IDP and the British Council are part owners of IELTS along with Cambridge English Language Assessment. This means they are all one company. Learn more information about the IELTS Test.
To be honest, there is no difference in writing the exam through British Council or IDP. The marking criteria are exactly the same in both. The test is valid in countries like Canada, Newzealand, UK, USA and many countries irrespective of whether the test is taken through IDP or BC.
Paper and Computer testsIf you have taken an IELTS on Paper test, your Test Report Form will be available 13 days after you complete the test. If you have taken an IELTS on Computer test, your results will be available in three to five days after your test.
You can cancel your IELTS test registration at any time before taking your test by notifying your Test Centre. Refund terms depend upon when you cancel and whether exceptional circumstances apply.

If you take the IELTS paper-based test, you can preview your IELTS results online 13 calendar days after your test date. Your Test Centre will notify you when they become available. You'll need your passport number, personal details, and your test date to retrieve your results.
You can send your score by either electronic score report delivery or paper TRF delivery. Before choosing a score delivery method, check the official website of your dream universities and make sure which method they accept. You also have to pay for courier or regular delivery if you send paper TRFs.

You can request a remark within 6 weeks of the IELTS test date on your Test Report Form. You can request a remark for the whole IELTS test or for one or more parts (Reading, Writing, Listening or Speaking). Your reviewed results will be available within 2 to 21 days of applying for a remark.
Once you have registered to take IELTS, you may ONLY request to cancel or transfer your test to another day via email, letter, or in person. You may NOT cancel or transfer your date by phone or fax. If you cancel LESS than 5 weeks before the test date, you will not receive a refund.
Your IELTS Test Report FormA paper copy of your IELTS test score – known as an IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) – will be available 13 days after your test date. Your TRF may be collected in person at the test centre or delivered by post; please check with your test centre what option is available locally.
