With the trimming out of the way (or if you don't need to trim at all), take a closer look at the bottom of the screen: there's a button that reads “Rotate.” Tap it. Poof! Like magic, the video rotates. Just keep tapping this button until the orientation is correct.

Definitely safe to use MPC-HC. It would take VLC many years of work to reach the quality of MPC-HC even if that receives no further development. MPC-BE is probably the best alternative if you want something that is actively developed.

While some players like VLC and Media Player Classic can rotate videos, Windows Media Player doesn't have this option. However, you can use free video editing applications and websites to rotate the video to the right orientation and enjoy it properly in Windows Media Player.
On the Tools menu, click Video Effects. 4. To rotate the video clip to the right, drag the Rotate 90 video effect and drop it onto the movie on the timeline. To rotate the video clip to the left, drag the Rotate 270 video effect and drop it onto the movie on the timeline.

How to Rotate Your Videos in Google Photos
- Open Google Photos on your Android phone.
- Tap the Search bar.
- Tap Videos.
- Tap the video you want to rotate.
- Tap the slider bar icon (it's at the bottom of the screen in the middle).
- Tap Rotate until the video looks the way you want it to.
- Tap Save.
- Open the video or project in Windows Live Movie Maker.
- Go to the "Home" tab.
- In the tool bar at the top look in the "Editing" group. There you will see Rotate Left and Rotate Right icons. Click on either of them until your video is the correct orientation.
How to Rotate Your Videos in Google Photos
- Open Google Photos on your Android phone.

- Tap the video you want to rotate.

To allow apps to rotate the screen according to the orientation of your device, or stop them from rotating if you find them turning around while you lie in bed with your phone, go to Settings > Accessibility and turn on Auto-rotate screen. This is on by default on most phones.
