It's only valid for one season unfortunately or 35 days. But honestly after playing for a bit, 5 dollars is well worth to all the rewards and perks you get. I wouldn't mind spending less than a Xbox live membership for pass royale in a year.
Pass royale is probably the best thing you can buy in Clash Royale. If you play a lot, the value that you get from it is much more then $5, and you get unlimited retries on challenges.
