The Apple AirPort base stations CANNOTextend the wireless range of non-Applewireless routers. That is because they use a propriety method to doso with other AirPort base stations. However, the AirPortExtreme base station can "extend" othernon-Apple wireless routers if the connection betweenthem is wired.
Apple will stop selling its AirPortrouters when supplies run out. The company still willsupport the discontinued networking devices, which haven'tbeen updated in five years, for the next half decade. On Thursday,the company said it's discontinuing its AirPort line of basestations.
Factory-default reset
- Disconnect the base station from power.
- While holding down the reset button, plug the base station intopower and continue to hold the reset button for about 5 seconds,until you see the three status lights turn on. Then release thebutton.
