The UAN is a 12-digit 'portable' number allotted to each member which gives them control of their EPF account and minimises the role of employer in matters related to a member's account. The number allows a member to view all his or her EPF accounts with current and former employers. With the number, a member can initiate the process of closing old accounts and transferring balances. The number, which has to be allotted by an employer, needs to be activated.Member Id or Member Identification Numbers or PF account number is the number given by EPFO to allow the employer to submit EPF and EPS contribution for the employee. You can also get details of your PF balance by giving a missed call on 011-229014016 from the registered mobile number in UAN portal. In this case, also you do not have to remember your UAN number. However, you need to be registered on the UAN portal and give KYC details.
How to Register Mobile Number in EPF Account
- Visit EPF Member Portal.
- Click on “Activate UAN”
- Enter your UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number and email id.
- Now click on “Get Authorization Pin”
- An OTP will be sent to your mobile number.
UAN activated members may know their latest PF contribution and balance available with EPFO by sending an SMS at 7738299899 from registered mobile number. The member has to SMS "EPFOHO UAN" to 7738299899. The facility is available in 10 languages viz.
